I’m a software engineer. Or, should I say, I was? I had to hit 30 in order to realize that traditional 9-5 is not for me.
Although I always felt something was missing from my life, it was way more comfortable conforming to social norms. Instead of paying attention to those warning anxiety with which my body tried to wave me off, I suppressed it. I was too afraid to make the decisions that lead off the beaten path.
Until last summer, when I decided to take two months of unpaid leave with the goal to challenge myself, to leave my comfort zone. My way of doing this was going into this two months without any money.
I was craving for freedom. But actually, freedom from what? First I had to - shamingly - realize that the only one restricting my freedom was actually myself. Myself, generating fears that kept me in this ought-to-be safe prison. Okay, Evolution, thank you, it makes sense, I’m still alive - seems to be working! But you know… I want to live, not just to stay alive!
So this no-money challenge seemed like a good fear exposure therapy - it forced me to face those completely useless fears.
Obviously, I still needed to eat, right? I was hungry, I had a guitar, and I could even play some songs in a shitty way - if you put it together, sounds pretty obvious - try busking! Still, I had this fear - what those people (whom, btw, I never see again) are gonna think of me? But fortunately, if you’re hungry enough, it beats the fear one point;)
And I got to experience many more things like that - for example, it’s not the end of the world, if I can’t find a couch to crash on, I can sleep at a park and it’s also okay if I wait for 4 and a half hours for a hitchhiking ride, because at one point I’m gonna get there.
I had a very important takeaway from this journey. I gained courage to step out of the line - I could live on without my salary, makes not too much sense then to sacrifice my life for it I guess, does it?
So that lead me to proudly march in and pass my quitting notice to my manager. But then comes the question… now what?
And here comes another : - instead of being just a cog in a soulles corporate machine, I want to live in a community, and make actual impact. I don’t know, what this is exactly gonna be, so I set to sail to figure out this puzzle.
What I know, is that the most meaningful I felt my life was during this journey, so I’m about to follow those steps:)Intereses

I studied communication and media science. I am good at arts and crafts, I used to make goldsmith works too. I like gardening, such as propagate plants, weed out the garden, etc. I also like to take place in construction work too. For example, once I helped building a rooftop with my uncle. In 2014 I went to the USA to work at a summer camp. I worked there as a lifeguard and taught swimming, I was also a counselor. I used to work at the State Audit Office of Hungary. There I had to organize leadership meetings, television interviews, institutional trips.

I have a computer science bachelor's degree, and in the next year, I will start my master's studies in the same field. So if some urgent help is needed with your computer, I can be your guy, but primarily I don't want to work with computers on my workaway experience.
So I'll move from the fields where I have more knowledge of those where I have less: one of my brothers has a winery. In the past few years, I have spent a lot of my time there. He makes his wines with a natural and organic approach. This was a really various job, which included a lot of different tasks: work in the vineyard (I have also driven a tractor :D), prepare the wines in the vinery or just working on the construction of their house.
My other brother used to have a construction company, and when I was younger (15-18 years) I used to work at him. It was a very unique experience for me.
I have done something similar to workaway when I was working in a summer camp in the USA (however, it was a full-time job). My task was there something like maintenance.
I have been learning Spanish in the past three months really intensively, and my plan is to keep going with that!Edad
