My name is Mélodie, I am 30 years old and my biggest passions in life are traveling, languages and animals. I grew up in a small village in France where I understood quite early in life that the world was my oyster... So I started traveling on my own: at the age of 15, I packed my bags and took a plane for the first time in my life to travel to Germany and stayed with a host family that I had never met before for three months. After high school, I decided to challenge myself one more time and moved to Sweden for a whole year without knowing a word of Swedish. After that, my thirst for adventure and travel grew bigger and bigger every day. I moved to Belgium, Austria, and then back to beautiful Sweden, where I settled on my own 7 years ago.

I have been working in the translation industry for 7 years as a translator and project manager. Last year I decided to take a break from office life and started my own company to enjoy the freedom of working anywhere in the world. I am currently working on a freelance basis as an audiovisual translator, translating movies and series.

For the last few months, I have been working online and volunteering at different farms in Australia, and I am really enjoying taking a break from my computer and getting my hands dirty. I love learning new things and I promise to put my whole heart into it, just like with anything I do.

I have been living a plant-based lifestyle for over 10 years and animals have a special place in my heart. I grew up with all kinds of pets and I cannot imagine a life without animals. I am a mom of two cute guinea pigs that I rescued 3 years ago (who are staying with a host family during my year abroad). Therefore, I would particularly love to help with animals.

I have always been passionate about languages. I love learning new languages because it is the best way to get to know people and to have a better understanding of the culture of the country you are in. I have a translation degree and I can speak English, German and Swedish fluently. French is my mother tongue.

I think that the best and most meaningful part of traveling is sharing and I can't wait to meet you, to connect and share with you! I am enthusiastic and highly motivated and I always strive to become the best version of myself. What I am looking for in a Workaway exchange is to get to know locals and their traditions and culture, to grow and to challenge myself in any possible way, and to contribute to someone else's life project and happiness.

I am a very motivated worker and a fast learner with a multicultural background, a huge spark for life, and a strong passion for travel, nature conservation, and wildlife protection.

I have been working in the translation industry for 7 years, as a translator, customer service representative and project manager. During the past 3 years, I have been handling subtitling projects for renowned streaming platforms. I have recently started to do translation and subtitling work on a freelance basis. Each of my professional experiences has given me the ability to overcome difficulties and cope with new challenges, they have helped me develop a greater sense of responsibility and autonomy as well as very good organizational skills. Although I don't have any experience in manual work, I am always eager to learn new skills and I always give 100% and put my whole heart into anything I undertake.

While studying, I was working part-time in an indoor playground as a waitress and receptionist. I helped with cleaning and organizing birthday parties for young children from different countries and backgrounds and ensured they were having a good time at the establishment. I have also experience in teaching English, German, and French to young children and adults, which I always find super fun as I love the exchange of knowledge and experiences that comes with it.
