Hey everyone,
we are Maria and Markus, a couple from Germany and we are currently working and traveling through Canada until the end of summer 2025. Maria just finished her degree in Business Administration and Markus his Master in Forestry. We chose Canada as our destination because of its rich nature, wildlife and cultural diversity. We are really excited to start our adventure and we are both thrilled to meet nee people, learn new skills, make genuine connections and explore all that Canada has to offer :D
About Maria:
After High School, I decided to take time off to travel and ended up using workaway for the first time. This was truly one of the best experiences in my life this far which is why I want to continue travelling during my semester breaks. What I enjoy most about travelling is immersing into new cultures, stepping out of my comfort zone, learning new skills, getting to know different people and sharing stories. I love hiking, exploring new areas and just being surrounded by nature. Besides that I enjoy photography, table tennis, reading, board games, road trips, bonfires and good conversations.
About Markus:
I have a deep passion for almost anythings outdoors, including hiking, board games, swimming, kayaking, cycling, playing soccer and volleyball, fishing and skiing. I also enjoy road trips, playing piano and camping. I love dealing with forestry and always learning new things about it. I would be thrilled to learn about forestry and wildlife management in Canada. I would consider myself as a hard-working individual who is detail oriented and always willing to learn something new.

Que habilidades tienes?
Maria:
In the past, I did an internship in a hotel where I worked as a waitress and in housekeeping. During my travels I’ve also gained experience in childcare (the youngest being 17 months old), animal care (mostly dogs, cats, chicken, alpacas and cows), gardening (planting, weeding, harvesting..), building fences and painting. Other than that I can teach you German if you’d like to learn some phrases.
Overall, I’m willing to help in different kinds of areas and I would love to learn new skills :)
Markus:
I have a lot of forestry skills due to my studies. These include planting trees, chopping and stacking wood, building fences and bark beetle management. Growing up, I also helped my dad a lot of with renovations in the house, painting, laying pipes and everything in the garden (mowing lawn, weeding, sawing wood...). I also worked part-time as a barkeeper/waiter in a Greek restaurant and I enjoy building things. I am really excited to expand my knowledge and skills in Canada.
