Hi !

My name is Lucie. I'm 24 years old and I live on a farm in the Swiss countryside. I decided to take a year's break from my medical studies to travel. Why ? I wanted to share with others and learn essential things that are not written in books : discovering other ways of living and thinking, learning from other people and discovering myself even more.

The desire to become a Workawayer came from talking to the many volunteers that my family and I host, with whom we create unique connections. I did my first Workaway experience last year in Costa Rica and it has been so enriching ! I like to travel and discover the culture of a country by living with its inhabitants. To me, it is the most beautiful way to travel. I like the relationships and the bonds that are created by living and spending time with others.

I'm energetic, optimistic and always up for an adventure. I love doing sports, meeting people, being in nature and taking care of it. As we usually have volunteers and other visitors at home, I'm used to living in a community.

I'm not afraid to work hard, either intellectually or physically. Because I did different student’s jobs, I am used to do many types of works : administration, taking care of children, working outside, working in sales and services (restaurants and cleaning).
I like particularly working outside and taking care of children.

Overall I like to help others and I take every possibility to get out of my comfort zone :)

I think that the better way to learn a language is to spend time with people who speak. I've done a gap year in Germany to learn german. To learn a language is not the aim of my travel, but it will always be a bonus to learn a bit !

I live on a farm so I can work outside, in the garden for example.
I like to take care of children, I am used to do housework.
I like to make DIY projects, renovations, and can easily manage tasks around the house.
I like to cook and I’m open to learning how to cook for bigger groups of people.
Thanks to my studies, I know how to do administrative and office tasks on the computer.
I am also have experience working in sales (restaurants, bakeries) and hotel services (Airbnb).
