We are Leo & Estel, we live in the Swiss Alps and are looking for an extraordinary Workaway experience where we can make a meaningful contribution to someone's life and passion project.

Hi, I'm Leo. I am a 25-year old looking for experiences that fill my soul and open my mind. I love to talk about education, the arts, food, sports, and really anything that is curious, funny and enlightening. I live in the Swiss Alps, where I work as a teacher and am studying for a Master's in Education. I would like to find a Workaway experience where I can meet inspiring people, discover new capabilities, and learn more about what it takes to build a life around my ideals. I get happiness from lots of different sources – lately I have found that joy comes from being outside with other people as much as possible. Other sources include watching great movies and sharing my thoughts on them, taking photographs of people, and playing football with the local team from the little valley in Switzerland where I live. In the end, a good laugh and a smile with someone else makes me happy, and I think it always will.

Hi, I'm Estel. I am a 25 year old from Barcelona. I have lived in the US and currently live in a small town in the Swiss Alps. On a sunny day, you’ll find me outdoors doing any and all activities such as trail running, hiking, cycling, skiing or climbing, preferably with friends and family. On a rainy or a snowy day, you’ll probably find me doing the same activities, as well as having a cup (or 10) of tea and reading a book. I enjoy making art as well, especially photography and pottery, as well as oil painting. I’m a curious person who loves learning new things, especially in regards to sustainability, education, and community. I am on a journey to understand what it is I want to do with my time here, and believe that workawaying might help me do just that. Can’t wait to see where this journey takes me.

We both work in education – Estel as an educational psychologist and Leo as a teacher of humanities.

Leo: I have experience across a number of fields, including documentary filmmaking, education, political campaigning and publishing. I love to work in teams of energetic and passionate people, and am happy to dive into any new topic as long as it is challenging and interesting! The skills which I have developed in an academic and professional context mainly relate to written and oral communication, but I enjoy a variety of challenges, such as improving the operations of an organisation, figuring out how to build happy and motivated teams, and. I have experience in managing projects and teams, as I was the captain of my university soccer team, and recently managed the visit of Chelsea Football Club to our school. In terms of practical skills, I enjoy any challenging physical activity and am strong (I train often), I can cook to a decent standard (Estel can hopefully attest!), and I can learn any new sport pretty quickly! I am also experienced with children and animals, working in a school and growing up with a dog.

Estel: I have been involved in my university’s farm as a volunteer as well as a community garden, so I have basic knowledge on gardening. I love to bake sourdough bread and make kombucha, and want to learn more about fermenting foods. I am an endurance athlete so I can do physical tasks that require strenuous activity. I have basic experience in straw-bale building as I attended a week-long hands on workshop, but I hope to gain more knowledge on different forms of natural building and experimenting with different materials. I am experienced working with children, as I am a trained educational psychologist and work in education, and have been an au pair and nanny in the past. Finally, I have basic pottery skills, which I’d also love to improve on!

  Estel: I don't eat meat. I rarely eat dairy or eggs, and I eat fish. Aside from this, I eat everything else.
