Hi! I'm Katja. I’m from the Netherlands, I just spent the last two years working and traveling in Australia. I worked mainly as a barista which I love, but I’ve done plenty of different jobs. I’ve worked on organic permaculture farms, did some fruit picking and pollinating. I love to emerge myself in other cultures and surroundings. These are the most valuable experiences, ones that shape me and my view on life.

To describe myself I’d say I’m empathetic, open-minded, kind and considerate, flexible and a quick learner. I like to work hard and make myself useful, but also have fun in the mean time. I’m passionate about sustainability, fresh vegetarian food and coffee, all things music and art (festivals are usually the highlight of my year!). I love fire dancing, this is a passion I found in Australia. I also love animals dearly, I really miss my two cats back home.

I love the bustle of the city but in the end I feel more at home in nature. I usually adapt well to surroundings and people. I'm always up to explore and face adventures and learn new things! I like to give myself a purpose while traveling, in a more spiritual sense I give purpose to my life with helping, connecting and exchanging with others. Community is important to me. As a worker I show initiative and always keep busy. I love to cook, and can make quite a nice meal or a good cup of coffee :)

Que habilidades tienes?

With my (work) experiences in different kinds of environments, I've developed an array of skills. My hospitality skills, making coffees and food with good presentation but also good communication with and creative problem solving. With my work in the hospital as nutrition assistant I gained knowledge about nutrition but also insight about how to handle different kinds of situations.

I’ve done different kinds of farm work in Australia, from working on an organic permaculture farm and helping with organization of the farm, helping at the markets, to different types of fruit picking jobs. At my previous volunteering jobs, I’ve helped with the veggie garden, fruit trees, and worked in a hostel.

I’m also a good cook, I love cooking healthy vegetarian meals. I’m fluent in English and Dutch and I have a feeling for language. I love to share any knowledge that I have!

I love photography, music, the arts in general. Festivals and concerts are my favourite spare time activity. I’m getting more in touch with spirituality as I travel and live. I love animals, I have 2 cats but also had a dog for a while.
