Hi, I’m Carla! I’m an adventurous spirit, young at heart, and still happily exploring the world to find where I feel most at home. People describe me as warm and welcoming, with an easy smile. I love meeting new people and building authentic connections through shared work and everyday life, though I also value quiet moments alone to recharge.
​Originally from Germany, I’ve lived in France for over 30 years, split between Brittany and the Dordogne. I recently decided to sell my house in Dordogne to start a new chapter back in Brittany. While my house is on the market, I’m looking forward to new Workaway experiences—with a special wish to reconnect with Celtic culture and discover a new region in Brittany or Finistère to fall in love with.

Skills & What I Can Offer
DIY, Building & Decorating
​Renovation & Mechanics: I fully renovated an old stone house myself (with some help!), gaining solid hands-on experience in basic construction, maintenance, and problem-solving.
​Upcycling & Decorating: I love interior design and creating cozy, beautiful spaces using whatever materials are on hand. I also enjoy sculpting intuitively.
​Eco-Building: Volunteered on an Earthship construction project and loved both the sustainable building techniques and the strong sense of community.
​Animals & Outdoors
​Horses: Extensive experience caring for horses, including spending 7 winter seasons as a Workawayer taking care of horses in southern Portugal. I also ride.
​Gardening: Experienced with traditional vegetable gardens and very eager to learn more about permaculture.
​Pets: I love cats and dogs that are well-mannered and free-spirited!
​Wellness, Yoga & Massage
​Certified Yoga Teacher: Completed my training in Dharamshala, India (2013). I regularly practice meditation and enjoy guiding small sessions or sharing practice with others.
​Certified Thai Massage: Trained at Wat Pho in Thailand, where I lived for several years.
​Hospitality & Life Skills
​Property & Guest Management: Co-ran a holiday home rental agency for 10 years in Brittany, so I understand host expectations, turnaround, and guest care inside and out.
​Cooking & Crafting: I love cooking, baking, sewing, and handiwork.
​Caregiving: Worked in public senior care until retiring, so I'm patient, empathetic, and reliable.

What I’m Looking For
​I see Workaway as a genuine human exchange—a chance to share skills, learn new things, and connect with like-minded people as "brothers and sisters" working toward a common goal. Whether it’s building, animal care, gardening, or helping around a property, I bring enthusiasm, practical skills, and a positive attitude.

I have knowledge in gardening, have differents kind of skills in construction and renovating.
Good knowledge in cooking, backing, sewing. Experience in elderly care. bit knowledge with horses
I speak fluently 3 languages (and would like to learn portuguese).
