Hi and welcome on my profile! My name is Kathi, I'm 24 and I live in Vienna. I'm wowed by all the possibilities on this site. Travelling has always filled me with joy, my superpower is finding beauty in low cost travels off the beaten paths. I enjoy working with my hands very much, something I've been missing out on recently.
I'm working as a web developer, which is fun for a couple of months at a time, but the lingering wanderlust is just waiting to be released. I'd love to be a digital nomad at some point. My dream right now is to just take in many, many impressions, to keep close to my family and maybe be able to help a few people out in one way or another.
Originally I come from a small Austrian village without a shop or bus stop. I have been living in Vienna for six years now, which honestly has thwarted my wanderlust a little with its beauty. But now it's back: the need to get away. I love uncomplicated ways of being-away: With my all-inclusive Austrian train ticket, hardly a weekend goes by without a trip to the mountains or the countryside.
I think I'm made up of many, many opposites, in which I have been able to find a balanced middle in recent years. I am independent, but always happy to receive help and guidance. I draw strength from community, sometimes from being alone. I usually worry too much, but I'm always up for spontaneous action.
In my free time I love to dance, play board games and go to flea markets. Upcycling and economical, minimalistic sustainability inspire me. I enjoy saving up money, which is why DIY is a reoccuring theme throughout my everyday life: Cooking instead of ordering, repairing instead of throwing away, cutting my own hair. I would really love to learn more about different ways of sustainable living.Intereses

I have sound knowledge of everything that has to do with IT, online things, but also design and multimedia.
Throughout my life, I’ve always hustled, even when I didn’t had to. Mainly in hospitality (so I'm used to stress), but also maintenance, as a security guard (yes, me!) or as a tutor.
My native language is German with an Austrian dialect. I really look forward to language exchanges! My English is good, my Spanish is a bit rusty, but I would really like to brush up on it.
I moved out from my parents early and obtained a "I can do it" mentality. Everything that comes up, I’ll try myself first and get help if needed. I carry my furniture across town and up to the third floor, I know how to paint, fix and repair some things.
My passion is „Aus alt mach neu“, transforming old into new. Almost all of the items I own are second-hand: clothes, hair dryers, cell phone, furniture. Some repurposed, some upgraded. I can sew and crochet. I have an eye for useful things and lots of ideas for upcycling.
I also have experience with gardening. Since I was a child, I have always been helping to maintain my parent's huge garden at home. In my apartment, I‘m lovingly taking care of my many potted plants as a compensation to doing work with my hands. I love to cook (veggie/vegan) and like to keep my living space clean. Very rarely do my saucepans ever stay on the counter overnight.
For my Workaway trips, I would like to gain even more hands-on knowledge. To "Can you fix/do/build this?" I want to confidently answer "yes, of course!". It would be amazing to be able to learn skills from one host and carry that knowledge on to the next place. I look forward to exchanging ideas with hosts and other travellers and learning all sorts of things about them, the world and myself.Edad
