Hi there, I'm Ben! After spending my last 10 years in Leipzig and Berlin studying and working in the field of geography and urban planning, my curiosity and passion for nature and practical work draws me outside my cozy bubble (and continent) again.

My love for the nature there and the ability to get a work+travel visa brought me to Canada. It's my first time in the americas! I'm a very open-minded, adaptive and curious person. I lived in a small town in south India for a year back in 2015, learned the local language Kannada and taught english in village schools + built water filters with a local NGO. When not travelling, I live in a self-organized community housing project at the fringe of Berlin with 10 grown-up people and 4 kids. I'm used to living with many people, sharing life and cooking together.

I enjoy hiking and especially long-haul bike touring. This is my dream for Canada: Buy an old, used touring bike, get it into shape, and travel through a part of the country with it.

I have a broad range of things I can do and I'm always eager to contribute!
I know my way around bicycle repairs quite well through many years of practice - I have helped people fix their bikes in community-focused bicycle repair shops. In terms of craftsmanship I wouldn't call myself a professional, but I've gained some experience the last years: I know how to use a chainsaw, and have built a dancefloor from wood for a small swedish music festival with some friends last year. I live in a place with a garden and tended to many small gardens in the past 10 years, so I know the basics here, too.
Through helping kids from the neighborhood with their homework and sharing a flat with 4 kids of around 3 - 6 years I love to take care of the young ones!
