Hello all, I am excited to join workaway. :) I have taken a career break from working as an occupational therapist in Edinburgh and I am now travelling in Spain . A few years ago I travelled within parts of central and south America. While I was there, I was learning Spanish and I really enjoyed the experience. That is why I have chosen Spain for this adventure! I really hope to immerse myself within the language in the hope that my Spanish improves! I believe I am quite an energetic and enthusiastic individual who loves to travel, explore and meet new people. I love to be active and try new things but especially love being outdoors hiking, walking, swimming and generally enjoying nature. I am keen to explore the options available through workaway and I am excited to see what this experience brings :)

I have a TEFL qualification which means I can teach English as a foreign language. I worked as an English teacher in Mexico teaching English to children aged 10-12 years. I was learning Spanish whilst travelling and living in Central and South America in 2017 and really enjoyed this experience. I would like to reconnect with the Spanish language and I hope to have this opportunity whilst using workaway.

Currently I work as an occupational therapist within mental health services. This role requires me to have strong interpersonal and communication skills. Prior to this, I worked with adults with autism and within early years education. Within these roles I have learned the importance of active listening in order to support individuals to achieve what is important to them and offer support in the best way I can.

I have also been very fortunate to both work and travel within New Zealand and Australia. During this time, I worked in restaurants and cafes. This industry requires excellent communication skills, ability to work as part of a team, dedication to delivering a high quality service, as well as working at a fast pace under high pressure at times. Hence , developing an array of practical and useful skills that can be transferable to many different projects and environments.

I have also volunteered in different services over the years predominantly working with young people in various settings. This has enabled me to be creative and innovative when supporting projects that will be fun and enjoyable for young people and children.

Since joining workaway I have gained more insight into working on organic farms and also helping with property development/maintenance. I have helped with an olive harvest, prepared soil for planting vegetables, weeding as well as other skills such as grouting, painting etc.
