Ciao and Zdravo,

We are Clara and Ali, an adventurous pair of two forever curious souls, always combining Bosnian tradition with Italian...everything. Ali comes from a small village in the south of Bosnia-Herzegovina and Clara originates for Venice, Italy. Our paths crossed while we were working in Bosnia on humanitarian missions and together we wish to continue helping people in need.

Clara has always been interested in bio farming, nutrition and natural sustainability. She always thinks about food (as a true Italian) and does a lot of research about the healthiest ways of eating. She is a nature and human lover-a passionate humanitarian aid worker with years of experience working in refugee camps in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Bulgaria, primarily with children and teenagers. She has a lot of experience and really knows how to make a loving, nurturing place for those seeking refuge from wars, poverty or any other reason.

Ali comes from a agricultural family, with over 500 chickens and various fruits and vegetables they have built a small bio-organic shop with eggs, olive oil and pomegranate juice. Besides this he has always been interested in human rights, having created his own youth organization back in 2014 advocating for the abolishment of ethnical segregation in Bosnia's educational system. In the following 10 years he has coordinated countless youth projects, worked on state and regional stability in a post conflict society such as Bosnia, and gained field and office experience in post conflict resolution. Now he is working in a circus school in France where he uses circus art to empower children and young adults, providing them a sense of community and a nurturing environment.

We both have a lot of experience working with children and young adults, often coming from difficult backgrounds. We know how to implement a lot of activities, come up with knew ones, and in general make the environment super relaxed and warm, while passing on important skills and knowledge to the children and anyone involved.

Languages:

Clara speaks her native Italian, fluent English and Russian. Ali speaks his native Bosnian, fluent English and French. We would both love to learn Arabic.

We offer a lot of love, compassion and understanding. We are clean, respective of other people and animals. We both know how to cook, and have a little bit of gardening experience acquired last year with one of the Workaways that we did. We are also not shy of DIY's, so getting our hands dirty is not an issue at all.

When we travel somewhere we don't do it just to milk out the benefits that we can get, we also put effort into creating great experiences for everyone, helping in every way we can as well as learning about the place and people where we travel.

We always work as a team.

Last year we spent 3 wonderful months in Turkey, where we had 4 workaway hosts, and each one provided a unique experience that we will never forget.

Clara has studied linguistics at the University level and has always been interested in languages. She studied Russian and a couple of years went to live there. Wherever she went to live and work she always tried to learn the language (some were harder than others-Georgian being the hardest). Ali, on the hand, is bilingual with English and Bosnian being his mother tounges. Right now he is studying French. Our next mission is to learn Arabic.

Ali finished International relations and diplomacy and continued to pursue a career of working in Humanitarian organizations focused on defending human rights.

Clara studied Linguistics in Italy, specifically Russian. She also has a MA in International relations and diplomacy. After her studies she has pursued a career of humanitarian work, helping others in need.

We have both started working from a very young age (16-18) and have been independent during our adult life. We traveled and lived in different parts of the world for a considerable part of our life (UK, Georgia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Russia, Bulgaria, France and Turkey). We are also middle children in our families... we had to learn to survive even before heading out to the world.

Because of this, we managed to become reliable and trustworthy, knowing the value of things. We have had to work hard for our success, but also be kind and considerate, not doing it by stepping on other peoples toes. To be a good person is the most important to us.

Claras hobbies are doing research about the healthiest ways how to live our lives which include the food we eat and the lifestyles we live. She believes a nutritionist is a great occupation. She also loves reading about amazing real life stories which show the human resilience in moments of struggle. She is always on the look out for events that promote equal rights, human rights, as well as a true resistance towards injustice.

Ali's hobbies are playing instruments such as the clarinet and the saxophone. He is interested in history, geopolitics and spiritual philosophy.

Firat is the perfect example of an amazing host. The moment he welcomed us into his home, he treated us like his friends, and we immediately felt extremely comfortable. He is extremely polite, considerate, and understanding, and his home is very tidy, clean, and organized. His presence in the house is like you are with a roommate, and he is a… read more great guy to hang around with, which can be seen by his strong interest in other people, their stories, and experiences. He treated us amazingly well, and we went out a couple of times for dinner, drinks, and hanging out, as well as an amazing visit to his hometown, Eskisehir, where we enjoyed two beautiful days. He has great knowledge of Turkey, its history, cuisine, and culture, and together with his personal experiences, you truly feel like you are getting quality time in Turkey. Besides Turkey, he has great general knowledge about a lot of things outside Turkey, and because of this, when hanging out with Firat, it is always interesting, and there is always something to talk about. We were playing on the VR (which was amazing), watching TV shows, listening to music, and having meaningful conversations, and all of this while having the feeling of just visiting a friend and catching up with each other's stuff.

Alongside hanging out with Firat, we have some great memories of the quality time we spent with his children as well as with his father. We loved hanging out with Deniz and Güneş, playing football, doing homework, drawing, going out to the park, and just spending time together. They are super sweet and smart, and we really look forward to meeting them again. With workaways, spending time with children is both extremely rewarding while in the moment and also very difficult when the time comes to say goodbye, and this was exactly the case with Deniz and Güneş. We felt that we were really creating a meaningful relationship with them, but then we had to leave. We are ok with this, though, because we are sure that we will see each other again.

We were planning on staying with Firat for 2 weeks but extended our stay for 4, and we couldn't be more grateful for our decision as well as the experience we have had during our stay. With Firat we really feel like we have made a friend, and we plan to stay in contact with him in the future, as well as meet up in Europe.

We strongly recommend him as a host and as a friend, and we are sure that you will not regret your decision.

He is always looking after you, making sure you are comfortable and happy during your experience. We are often lost for words because people like him don't come often in life, and he is definitely an example of a warm, loving, and genuine human being. For his presence alone, we are grateful, and we are grateful to have made a new friend in Kaman.

Our experience on the farm was a real cultural exchange, exactly what Workaway is about. From the place you stay (a small stone house in the middle of nature), to the food you eat (almost always homemade and local), to the way you eat it (the way the locals eat it), to the work you do (harvesting walnuts with Mustafa's mother is an extremely unique and rich experience), to the dozens of teas you drink daily (you start to like it a lot later on), to the cat and dog always around you spreading innocent, loving energy, to the Sundays when his family would come to the farm and we would all prepare the food and eat it together, to the enjoyable isolation from the busy city life, immersing yourself in the nature around you. It was exactly what Workaway is about. Textbook.

Mustafa and his family never pressure you into doing anything you don't want to. There is no "I do this for you, you do this for me." From the first day, it was like we were part of a family, and they really treated us like that. Clara was driving the tractor often, something she had never done, and Ali was climbing the trees, trying to attach the rope to branches and then pull on them so the walnuts would fall down—something he had never done before. That is also an amazing part of this experience: we did so many things that we had never done before, and Mustafa and his family made our lives richer with memories we will never forget.

Overall, Mustafa's genuine smile and positivity, accompanied by his family's warmth, make you realize how lucky you were to have been accepted by them. You get an amazing look into local culture, cuisine, and tradition—the most genuine you can find. If you want to make an amazing friend, gain something money can't buy, and experience the amazing farm life at Mustafa's place, you should definitely connect with Mustafa and begin this amazing journey that you will remember for the rest of your life.

It was our first Workaway experience and it was really amazing.

Nele and Tarik were welcoming from the get to and they really opened their home to us. We had multiple cultural exchanges: Tarik is Turkish and he was very open to show us the Turkish traditions, history as well as an amazing barbeque. We were really impressed by the sheer taste and… read more quality of the meat. Nele is from Belgium and she shared with us some interesting facts about Belgium, as well as her point of view of Turkey, which was really interesting. She is also an amazing mom, always thinking about beneficial ways of raising their children, and making sure they are up to date with the things that focus on their individual developments. On top of that, we also, very often enjoyed family events together. We would go to the beach together, the mountains, and various cultural events where Tarik would play traditional Turkish instruments. It was a really nice feeling being part of their family, and we felt extremely comfortable in their home. We also had free time to enjoy our stay in Milas, and we also took the opportunity to explore nearby places like Didim and Iasos. The whole area is beautiful, full of history, amazing food and warm locals. The public transportation is well organized, clean and cheap, as well as filled with people willing to communicate with you even if they don't know English and you don't know Turkish.

They have two wonderful children, Eren and Sena. Where to begin with them.

We really got close to them and admired their different personalities every day. They are extremely intelligent, independent and mature, including emotionally mature. We did all kinds of things together, from playing football, to painting, having nice walks, cooking, cleaning, we also did homework together. We were often surprised and impressed by how intelligent they both are and how they are not the typical 7 and 5 year old's. Kudos to Nele and Tarik for raising their children in the right direction, which includes allowing them to be children, play, jump, climb, all the normal stuff children should do. They are bubbly, loving, charismatic and full of joy and life. We would definitely love to keep in touch with them and admire their growth. It's difficult to describe them in just a few sentences, I guess you'll have to see for yourself.

Overall a 10/10 experience.

Nele and Tarik have their own way of raising a family and for us it was inspiring and encouraging to see such a beautiful family thrive in the modern age. They value quality family time and try to give their children more of life than electronics. We found this immensely beautiful.

We definitely recommend Nele, Tarik, Eren and Sena to anyone, especially to those who love being with children. The cultural exchange that we experienced was amazing. Thank you once again.

Being with Ceylan for almost a month was really an opening opportunity for us and we learned so much in gardening but also in life. We are extremely grateful for her and the fact that she opened her home to us.

She welcomed us with open arms and provided as an amazing place to stay with privacy and everything you would need in a small house,… read more since we were basically provided a small house with the most amazing view of the ocean. She is extremely organized, clean and considerate and someone who has a vast amount of knowledge and experience with her storytelling capabilities leaving us mesmerized. Her garden is huge and beautiful, and the more days you spend there the more you realize you have seen nothing, since there is always something around the corner with a story behind it.

She has great knowledge in day to day stuff as well as more complex matters from global and local politics to a qualitative way of gardening, Her food was full of taste and love, where she cooked so easily, as if it was second nature to her. She is also someone who cares about you experience, so she was driving us to the local markets and making suggestions on where to go and what to do. She was always making sure we were comfortable. Her two dogs are cartoon characters as she would describe them, and their personalities are almost human like. They will also be your hosts, and great ones if we might add.

In terms of the location, it is a small village which we really liked. You get a real experience of Turkey and meet the most loving, happy and kind people in your life. We would go to the village often, since there is a shop, and on our way we would encounter the locals. They didn't know English but were always willing to help, always smiling and just being extremely warm. We really liked this. If you would like to go to the beach, it is not far away, maybe like half an hour by foot going down hill and about 40 minutes going up hill. But, if you sometimes don't want to walk, although we do recommend it, we almost always had someone pick us up voluntarily from the road and drive us down or up. Also, once you are down hill and are finished with the beach, there is a bus that goes very close to Ceylans property and the ticket costs less than one euro. Tons of places to check out around the village such as Bodrum, and there are frequent busses which are modern and on time.

In general: an extremely pleasant and rich experience, and we would love to come again. Strong recommendations for Ceylan and love from Clara and Ali.

Are extremely polite, well mannered, clean and tidy.
They were quick at learning and implementing gardening tasks. They were great with pets.
Clara is an extra asset if not a gem: She is a great cook and meticulous when it comes to cleaning.
It was a joy to have them!
They are most welcome to come whenever they wish.
