I am Alexis from USA. I love learning, traveling, expanding my views of life, people, and the world. I lived 2 semesters in Costa Rica with local host families and gained confidence and the desire to continue traveling. My goal now is to develop more skills related to permaculture, art, construction/building, and typical skills needed for off-grid, self sufficient kind of living. I am using Workaway to exchange my own stories, language (English), talents, skills, passions, while being financially savvy.

I am a considerate guest. I believe in leaving no trace wherever I may find myself. I am a spontaneous, inquisitive personality. Sometimes quiet as I am an introverted extrovert but I have lots to say when I feel socially charged.

I enjoy live music, graphic design, creating art, painting, building/making things, reading, writing, resting, being at the beach, having interesting conversations, farming, gardening, hiking and just being in nature, being around animals, teaching and learning from children. I believe nature has so much to teach us so most my travels are in places known for the high energy of the land. I like to live a balanced life. I was born in a big city but I love to disconnect and simply be in silence and immersed in the sounds of nature.

I strive daily to be very mindful and present. I value conducting myself in a way that is respectful, dynamic, patient, determined, and kind. I am a sensitive person and highly intuitive, always working to become more self actualized and in the moment with people. I practice self awareness and do my best to adapt with grace to situations and changes.

Learning languages is also a great interest of mine and I am currently seeking to continue improving my Spanish, Portuguese, Yoruba, Dutch, French, Mandarin Chinese, Vietnamese, and Sign Language.

Some places I'm naturally drawn to are East Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Eritrea, Rwanda, Sudan, SA, Uganda), the Caribbean coast + islands (Jamaica, Belize, Honduras, Puerto Viejo, Mexico) also Nicaragua and the West Indies, Southeast Asia (Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand), South America (Colombia, Brazil, Peru, Chile).

  I love fruits and vegetables, seed/nuts, oats/granola, yogurt, legumes, grains, curries, pasta etc. I have a simple diet and I limit my meat & dairy intake. I am flexible and willing to try new dishes, nonetheless.
