Hey there!

We’re Vika (31, Russian) and Paul (25, French). Although we’ve lived in the same city in the UK (Bristol) for the last few years, we actually met while working in a restaurant in Canada during our first season in Whistler. We both love travelling, snowboarding, and good food and so we bonded over it. Now we’re planning our next adventure to Japan and we can’t wait to immerse ourselves into the fascinating country and its unique culture.

A bit about us:

Vika is an energetic extrovert who thrives on human connection. Enjoys exploring, learning new things, and being active. Exercise and nutrition are of particular interest. Loves riding horses and motorbikes, and snowboarding. Has a biochemistry and teaching background with a few years’ experience working in eLearning. Currently freelancing. To unwind she either reads with a glass of red, takes a podcast walk, swims, or dances.

Paul is the calmer more introverted of the two. After completing a physics degree, he travelled to Canada for 1.5 years as he shares Vika’s passion for exploring and snowboarding. He also loves learning and all things outdoors, so can be found self-studying coding in the morning and hiking in the afternoons. He’s got a good eye for photography and you’ll rarely see him without his Fuji. To unwind he cooks, games, nerds out about one of his interests or plays tennis (ball sports are his forte).

Both hard working, fun, friendly (and very tidy) individuals who are always up for a laugh and trying new things :)

Both good all-rounders and very fast learners. Can do a bit of DYI, farming, horse-riding, teaching, photography. Can do a lot of sports/outdoor activities and we are computer-literate (Paul more than me). Also, Vika is reaaally at good cleaning, and Paul is a good cook :)

Nikki and Kyli made Nokonoshima special for us! We only stayed for a weekend (itinerary constraints) but the girls were so accomodating. I've enjoyed my short stay (2 weeks) in Osaka and I've made some good friends there. Yumiko is a great host who goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome and tell you about the Japanese way of life. Thank you for having me!

Vika only stayed with us a short time but she proved herself to be a hard worker and a fast learner. She was able to handle even the tricky parts of the guest house work after the first time and helped a great deal.
I can recommend her to any host needing help for a short, or long period.

I stayed with Juan and his wife only for one night due to a change of plans, nevertheless they were both very warm and welcoming and I had a great time learning about Japan and their adventures. They live in a lovely home outside Kyoto and will surely make you feel at home!

Vika was one of the best volunteers we had. Always smiling, joking, helping wihth everything necessary. She is not afraid of any type of work. hope to see her onsesmore some other year, maybe the next summer. It was fine to meet you. And see you soon.

I've stayed with Veronika and Martin for 2 weeks this September and I absolutely loved it. I have enjoyed my brief stay at Maya's this September. The staff were lovely and the food was delicious! I have met 3 other workawayers who made my stay very memorable. The many horses and dogs running around the place are amazing characters that provided a lot of entertainment with their daily escapades. Thank you very much for having me :)
