Hello, my names Tom and I’m a Thai American Marine Biologist. I was born in central Thailand and grew up near Palm Springs, California. Im currently a deckhand on Maxi yacht charters in Airlie Beach.

I got serious wanderlust in 2020 and never looked back. Since then I’ve lived in Florida, Ecuador, Thailand, and Australia working in a variety of fields including diving, photography, sailing, hospitality, research, teaching, and sales.

I love being outside and connecting with nature. Some of my favorite things to do are making music, hiking, freedive, SCUBA, and surfing. I’m pretty new to workaway but am have met some amazing people from the community. Happy to give back how I can!

While I went to school for ecology, I like to consider myself a jack of all trades, with a few different work experiences:

I grew up Buddhist and leaned into it after college, I picked up a few techniques and teach them to friends. I started working as a naturalist with my local zoo in high school but worked at a few restaurants during high school and college.

I played trombone for 10 years and ended up traveling for tournaments and doing a lot of gigs for the UCLA marching band. Soon after graduating, I took an internship with a coral restoration non-profit.

I've done over 200 coral restoration dives and am currently doing content creation and social media marketing. I also work as a mate at a couples resort and take guests on ecotours, snorkeling and freediving on our reefs, and sailing around the Everglades and Florida Bay.

I can help with English and some basic Thai language practice if you are interested! I am currently trying to learn conversational Spanish.

I'm a decent cook and mostly make stir-fries but am open to trying all sorts of techniques and foods. If you are interested in Thai food I can teach you some of my favorite recipes.

Though I might not have a ton of experience, I do have a willingness to try new things. I'm so stoked to learn new skills and go on adventures and immerse myself in different cultures!

Some of my hobbies include surfing, climbing, hiking, camping, backpacking, basketball, animals, meditation, photography, videography, and drones!
