Hello our names are Sophie and Benji and we are travelling all throughout Japan for a year. Here's a little bit about us both...

Hello, I'm Sophie! I grew up in Queenstown, New Zealand, before moving to Wellington, where I’ve just wrapped up four years studying design. Last year, I spent six months living, studying and travelling in Spain — soaking up the culture, watching football games and dancing at bachata classes. Most recently, I’ve been living and working in Niseko, making the most of the mountains and snow. I’m a big fan of the outdoors, art and dance, and love new experiences. Some of my favourite things to do include eating, yoga, hiking, surfing, skiing, and a bit of knitting when I’m in the mood to chill. I’m always keen to watch live music or play games. When I’m winding down, you’ll usually find me with a book, some music, or a good movie — favourites include Brokeback Mountain, The Last of the Sea Women, and Spirited Away.

Hello, my name is Benji! My home is Guam, but I spent my most recent years in New Zealand, where I just finished university. I studied fashion and industrial design, and I love to make things! I have spent the winter season working in Niseko and enjoying the snow, but now I am ready to soak in the sun! I love to go to museums, both art and historical. Some of my hobbies include playing video games, skateboarding, surfing, and skiing. When the weather isn't good, I love to read, play games, listen to music and watch movies.

We both love the art and music scene in Japan, and we’re eager to explore more and become even more immersed! We’re especially excited to deepen our understanding of Japanese perspectives—the subtle intricacies, the cultural values—and to embrace new experiences with open minds.

Sophie - Graphic design skills and have just started knitting. I can cook a delish meal. I love making things and am interested in expanding my skill set!
Benji - I can sew and I have basic wood working and metal working skills.

We're both physically fit and fast learners. We're both very capable of manual work and good with technology! We have just renovated a van and are keen to do more DIY projects.

We love board games and card games and will bring these to you! We are both very social and independent. We'd be happy to do shared meals but are equally happy to do our own thing. We are travelling in a Van so if there's not room for both of us in your place, one (or both) of us can stay in the van :).
