My name is Sophia and I’m 43. I‘m from Kassel, Germany where I work as a secondary school teacher for English and German. I’ve started my one year sabbatical in August 24 during which I'm often travelling but also spending time with my big family back home or just doing things that make me happy. Travelling gives me the opportunity to share my experiences with other countries’ cultures and customs with my students. I've been to countries such as Guatemala or Malawi and I recently counted that I've already traveled 37 countries so far. I had my first working holiday experience in Australia in November where I worked at a cattle station and it proved to me that working abroad is what brings me closest to people and cultures. That's why I want to "work away".
I’m outdoorsy and therefore I like hiking, cycling, snorkeling, camping as well as horseback riding. I grew up in the countryside helping out on my grandparents’ farm and in our gardens from time to time and l had my own horse. We’ve always had animals so I love having them around and taking care of them.
Of course I also like working and being with children and young people, and taking care of younger kids is also no problem.
I like doing yoga and group fitness but not excessively, just once or twice a week.
Once in a while I play the piano but just for fun and on a low level.
I’m often on the go because I just like doing and exploring things. You would also see me going to concerts, workshops, exhibitions, restaurants etc. I’m always interested in learning new things, easy to talk to and I would say I'm an uncomplicated person. I am social, empathic and communicative. What I'm still working on is being more consequent and disciplined in things that I want to or have to do :-)
As long as what people say or do doesn’t hurt, insult or discriminate others I am very tolerant and open-minded. Therefore I’m looking forward to meeting people from all over the world and at the best of times living with them for a few days!

In Portuguese I can have simple conversations .In Spanish I understand a little bit because of Portuguese but I can only say a few words.

Que habilidades tienes?

I'm an English and German teacher and I've been teaching for 15 years now. Before I started studying I spent one year in the US where I worked as a nanny and lived with the family. I'm good at working with children and taking care of them. I love teaching English and I'm always trying to find new ideas to make learning fun by playing games, role plays etc. Doing arts and crafts with kids is also something that I like a lot.
Since I grew up in the countryside and my family owns a farm I am used to working outside and I don't mind getting my hands dirty. I can do garden work, paint a wall or set up irrigation on a field. I've always been around animals, I had my own horse and I've always had cats. So I like taking care of animals and having them around.
I have some skills in sewing but just simple works.
I have got a drivers' license and I would say that I'm a good driver.
