Hi! We’re Ollie and Martha, a couple from the UK currently on an open-ended backpacking journey through Southeast Asia and maybe beyond.
Prior to our backpacking trip we travelled around Europe in a self-converted campervan. This is what gave us our spark for travel. We particularly enjoy getting off the beaten track, interacting with locals and of course eating all of the local foods!
We're a friendly and personable couple who love meeting new people and immersing ourselves in different cultures. Outgoing and adventurous by nature, we thrive in the outdoors and are always up for trying something new—whether that’s a challenging hike, a spontaneous road trip, or tasting a local dish we can’t pronounce. We’re big animal lovers, and we genuinely enjoy connecting with both people and pets wherever we go. Honest and trustworthy, we value clear communication and always bring a positive, can-do attitude. Oh—and we're total foodies! From street stalls to home-cooked meals, we’re always excited to try (and maybe learn to cook) local specialties.
You find us here on workaway as we are seeking to gain an authentic experience and immerse ourselves in culture. Our goals are to help to improve people’s lives, contribute to and be part of a community atmosphere. We are both focused on personal development and are keen to expand our knowledge by learning from other people and cultures.Intereses

Que habilidades tienes?
We’ve been together for over nine years and work brilliantly as a team—think of us as the best “buy one, get one free” deal you’ll come across! Between us, we bring a broad mix of complementary skills and experiences, making us adaptable, reliable, and genuinely enthusiastic about getting stuck in.
As a couple, we've looked after homes and pets for friends and family, as well as babysat for our young niece. We're both lifelong animal lovers and have cared for a variety of animals including cats, dogs, and horses—both our own and others’. Whether it’s responsibility, routine, or giving a pup some extra cuddles, we’re always up for the task.
Ollie:
I previously worked as a Design Engineer and Project Manager, which means I bring a strong mix of practical skills, technical knowledge, and a get-it-done attitude. I’m very hands-on—I’ve always enjoyed working with my hands, whether it’s restoring classic cars, tackling DIY projects, or self-converting a campervan from the ground up. I’m confident with IT and tech, and thanks to my background, I can offer help with things like troubleshooting, admin support, and even some CAD design if needed. I pride myself on being a great communicator and a solid team player, but I’m just as comfortable working independently and taking initiative. I always try to go the extra mile in anything I do—something that was recognised in my previous job when I received awards for helping produce PPE visors for hospitals and healthcare workers during the pandemic. I love a challenge, enjoy learning new skills, and always bring enthusiasm and reliability to the table.
Martha:
I’ve spent the last few years working in the National Health Service as a Project Administration Lead, which means I’m incredibly organised, confident in managing people and timelines, and comfortable juggling lots of moving parts. I’m a people person through and through, and I really enjoy working with people from all walks of life—whether that’s leading a meeting or having a chat with someone new. One of my biggest passions is cooking. I come from a family where food is everything—my grandma was a private chef, and I learned so much from her and my mum growing up. Over the years, I’ve cooked most nights at home for my family, studied cookery in school, and worked in a variety of food settings—from fast food to fine dining, behind the bar, and as a barista. I also hold a UK Food Hygiene & Safety Certificate. On top of that, I’m confident with Microsoft Office and other admin tools, and I love finding ways to make things run more smoothly and efficiently. Whether it’s coordinating a project or cooking a meal, I approach everything with care, energy, and a positive attitude. However, its worth noting that I am keen to get stuck in and get my hands dirty - that's the campervanner in me.Edad

Our trip is completely open-ended, which means we’re keeping our plans flexible and spontaneous. We're not tied to any fixed itinerary and are happy to shape our travels around meaningful volunteering opportunities as they come up. Whether it’s staying a few weeks in one place or changing direction entirely, we’re open to wherever the experience takes us!
