Dear hosts,

My name is Mio and I am a passionate, self-taught chef. I'm born Japanese and Czech, bilingual fluency in both. I grew up in the Czech Republic, but I have lived in Japan, Norway and Ireland. I enjoy traveling, hiking, nature, mountains, playing the violoncello, piano, ukulele, meeting new people from all over the world. One of my biggest passion is cooking, and food in general. Before becoming a chef I worked as a freelance transcriptionist for political and cultural content. I quit, when I was 26 and decided to move to Japan to learn more about Japanese food. I've been cooking for the last four years with a few breaks for traveling. I worked in Japanese restaurant, sushi restaurant, French restaurant, in a restaurant in Norway etc. I have been to many restaurants as an intern too. I want to keep learning all about food, and everything related to it. I am very interested in learning about making wine, and about restaurant business as one day, I want to open my own restaurant!:)
I have volunteered with m such as Wwoof and Workaway. I have done all sorts of task and I'm not afraid to do get my hands dirty! But it would be great if at least some part of my work was cooking!:) I also enjoy very much helping with animals. For example I have been to a sheep farm, where we did all from feeding, milking the sheep to cheesemaking. It was such a great experience! I love dogs and all animals. I will for sure be walking your dogs! If you have huskies, I'm very interested to learn more about dog sledding and handling. I have took off care of 72 huskies in Norway Alta, just feeding, cuddling, brushing, walking and keeping all clean. Besides cooking, I'm looking for opportunities to learn how to make pottery.





Update 10/2022:
I just got back to Czech from 6 months long road trip around Scandinavia and working and volunteering in Norway. I'm looking for new adventures now!


I enjoy fermenting foods, and interested in learning more about it. I'll be happy to learn something more about self-sufficiency, or off grit life too.
Besides cooking, traveling and playing music I'm an outdoor enthuastic. I do love hiking, camping, walking, snowboarding. I prefer if you are somewhere in mountains.:)

I have worked and volunteered in many farms all over Japan, Austria and Czech, and in a guest house on Zamami island. (from weeding the rice fields, making beds in the guest house, serving food, cooking, painting walls, looking after kids, milking and feeding the sheep, cheese making to cleaning stables etc.)

I studied Czech language and literature - Arts in Education, I interrupted my studies before the very last exams for personal reasons and moved abroad, never finished it.
