Hola,

Mi nombre es Maya. Soy una chica alemana de 23 años.
Cuando tenía 18 años, descargué Workaway por primera vez y tuve mi primera maravillosa experiencia de voluntariado en Australia, en una granja de bambú. Ahora, después de haber completado mis estudios de ciencias ambientales, estoy viajando de nuevo, esta vez por Centroamérica y, con suerte, Sudamérica. Siempre ha sido mi sueño viajar a estos países de habla hispana tan acogedores, y por eso empecé a aprender español hace dos años. Después de pasar medio año en España y recientemente otros tres meses en San Salvador para una pasantía, mi español es decente. Sin embargo, siempre estoy feliz de mejorarlo, especialmente cuando (preferiblemente) hablo con los locales.

Ahora hace un mes que terminé mi pasantía y me siento un poco agotada por los cambios constantes en mi entorno y las personas que me rodean. Habiendo tenido una estancia tan maravillosa en una granja de bambú la última vez, estoy deseando ayudar en la casa y el jardín, preferentemente en un lugar remoto que implique trabajar y/o vivir con comunidades locales.

Un poco sobre mí:
Crecí en una pequeña granja y, después de haber estudiado ciencias ambientales, me interesa mucho aprender más sobre cualquier tipo de agricultura sostenible. También me apasionan los idiomas, las comunidades locales, la fotografía y los proyectos creativos. Soy una persona muy trabajadora, especialmente cuando el trabajo es para una buena causa.

En mi tiempo libre, me encanta quedar con amigos, cocinar, hornear y hacer fotografía. Soy una exploradora de corazón y me encantaría viajar por el mundo. Siempre estoy buscando nuevas aventuras y espero aprender mucho de las personas que conozco, los animales con los que me encuentro y la naturaleza por la que paso cada día. Creo que deberíamos tratar a los animales de la misma manera en que tratamos a las personas: son solo otras criaturas en este mundo único. Aunque espero inspirar a otros con mi forma de pensar, también me encantaría conocer las opiniones de otras personas sobre este tema.

Como habrás adivinado por lo que has leído, soy vegetariana. No tengo ningún problema con una familia anfitriona que coma carne (mi propia familia también lo hace), aunque preferiría comidas vegetarianas. :)

Hola,
My name is Maya. I am a 23-year-old woman from Germany. When I was 18, I first downloaded Workaway and had my first wonderful volunteer experience in Australia on a bamboo farm. Now, after completing my environmental sciences studies, I am traveling again—this time through Central and, hopefully, South America. It has always been my dream to travel to these welcoming Spanish-speaking countries, which is exactly why I started learning Spanish two years ago. After spending half a year in Spain and recently another three months in San Salvador for an internship, my Spanish is decent. However, I’m always happy to improve it further, especially when (preferably) speaking with locals.
I am now one month out of my internship and feeling a bit exhausted by the constant changes in my environment and the people around me. Having had such a wonderful stay at a bamboo farm last time, I am looking forward to helping around the house and garden, preferably at a remote place that involves working and/or living with local communities.
A bit about me:
Growing up on a small farm and having studied environmental sciences, I am very interested in learning more about any type of sustainable agriculture. I am also passionate about languages, local communities, photography, and creative projects. I am a very hardworking person, especially when the work is for a good cause.
In my free time, I love to meet up with friends, cook, bake, and do photography. I’m an explorer at heart and would love to travel the world! I am always looking for new adventures, and I hope to learn a lot from the people I meet, the animals I encounter, and the nature I walk through each day. I believe we should treat animals the same way we treat people—they are just other creatures in this unique world. While I hope to inspire others with my mindset, I would also love to hear other people's thoughts on this topic.
As you may have already guessed from reading this, I am a vegetarian. Having a host family that eats meat is not an issue for me (my own family does too), though I would prefer vegetarian meals. :)
