Hi, I’m Marlen, originally from and based in Berlin.
I work in the field of service and product design, helping teams create digital services that are useful and meaningful for people. My work is very collaborative and human-centred, and I enjoy understanding different perspectives and turning ideas into something real.
Beyond my professional life, I’m a curious and open person who enjoys learning from different environments, cultures and ways of living. I value meaningful conversations, nature, creativity and being part of something that feels purposeful.
I joined Workaway because I’m at a transition point in my life and want to explore new places, contribute in a hands-on way, and experience everyday life from a local perspective rather than as a tourist. I’m especially interested in projects that involve community, sustainability, nature, social impact, or creative work.
People would describe me as calm, reliable and thoughtful, but also open and adaptable. Someone who recently met me said I'm a "bomb of positive energy" :) I’m happy to help wherever needed — whether that’s organizing, supporting daily tasks, helping with creative work, or simply being an extra pair of hands.
I’m motivated by learning, contributing and connecting with people in a genuine way, and I’m excited to be part of new environments where I can both help and grow.

I have a background in service design and innovation, and for the past years I’ve worked closely with teams to develop digital products and new ideas. Through this, I’ve learned how to listen carefully, understand people’s needs, and support groups in working together in a structured and positive way. I’m comfortable facilitating conversations, helping organise projects, and bringing clarity to complex situations.
At the same time, I’m someone who values human connection, empathy, and meaningful experiences. People often describe me as calm, thoughtful, and reliable. I enjoy being helpful, whether that means supporting daily tasks, helping organise something, or simply contributing to a positive atmosphere.
I speak German as my native language and English fluently, and I enjoy language exchange and cultural exchange in general.
In my personal life, I enjoy cooking, spending time in nature, journaling, learning new things, and having deep conversations about life. I’m curious, open-minded, and adaptable. I don’t need luxury — I appreciate simple environments, authenticity, and shared experiences.
I’m especially interested in contributing to places where people care about sustainability, community, health, creativity, or simply living more consciously. I’m motivated to learn, support, and be part of something meaningful.
