Hi my name is Lacey (she/her), I am 25 and I am currently travelling in the US by bike. Riding from San Diego to hopefully Vancouver BC.

I am passionate about bird watching, organic farming, outdoor education, beekeeping and living more sustainably / gently.

I am interested in learning more about permaculture, regenerative agriculture, earth building, carpentry, beekeeping and sailing.

Over the past 5 years I have lived in Bhutan completing my degree in ecotourism and outdoor recreation, worked on a commercial organic kiwi fruit and avocado farm for 2 years, lead expeditions in far north Queensland Australia working with indigenous communities and working for a private bush regeneration company.

I've just sold my van that I was living in and am looking to travel now by bike, foot and hopefully boat. I recently started sailing with a local sailing club and would love be to continue learning in my travels.

I spend a lot of my time outdoors trail running, hiking, camping, cycling and paddling. I love cooking healthy nutritious food, gardening, dancing and getting crafty. I am a eager learner, hard worker and am super interested in being apart of any form of sustainable farming, permaculture, ecotourism, conservation work and outdoor recreation.

• Certificate 4 in outdoor education (hiking, canoeing, wilderness first aid, swift water rescue)
• Bachelors degree in ecotourism and outdoor recreation
• currently completing certificate 3 in conservation land management
• Australian National herbarium traineeship
• 4WD course


Life experience skills;

• organic farming: 2 years kiwi fruit pruning, kiwifruit and Avocado picking and packing, tractor driving.
• gardening: composting, seed raising, weeding.
• bush regeneration: 3 years experience on the mid north coast of Australia. Weeding and planting contracts. Occasional ropes access work.
• Beekeeping; I was lucky enough to be mentored by my good friend who runs an apiary and bee keeping supplies shop. I have been helping her with her hives for a year.
• cooking; capable of cooking for large groups, experience camp cooking for 30 people in far north Queensland and on organic farms for backpackers and staff.

I love basically any outdoor activity - hiking, running, rafting, rock climbing, snorkelling, canoeing - you name it!

I am from a large family (eldest of 6) so am good with kids and love to play and craft.

I love card games and board games and am always looking for new ones to play/learn.

I really enjoy gardening, cooking, crafting and yoga!

I signed up to workaway to learn more skills while travelling. I have dreams of buying land, building my own home and creating a sustainable community and a keen to gain knowledge from other peoples visions and projects.
