Hello! My name is Katie, and I am originally from America, but am traveling around the world in order to learn, listen, and grow. I am passionate about pushing myself out of my comfort zone, in order to grow in my empathy and awareness of the beautiful world around me. I am passionate about sustainability, and have worked on different organic farms back in my home country. I love learning new languages, and my favorite way to learn them is through interacting with speakers of other languages.

I have been incredibly lucky to have been a part of five workaways before, and have gained invaluable experience from each. I have worked on three different farms, where I helped with various tasks related to homesteading, gardening, and construction such as building foundations and installing fences. I am a helicopter pilot and currently work with pumps for a living, and therefore have basic engine and pumped repair experience. I also have backpacking and camping experience and am happy living in touch with nature and learning more about the natural world around me. Lastly, I used to work as a pastry chef, and therefore and very comfortable in a kitchen, and happy to learn new recipes and whip something up for you, as well! Workaway has played such a positive role in my life, and I love the opportunity to interact with new people, learn about other cultures, and work as hard as I can to learn a new skill and be part of projects I admire.

This was one of the most phenomenal experiences of my life. I have been privileged enough to participate in a few other Workaways in my life, and this was exceptional. A great experience! You will live in a volunteer with other Workawayers, about 6-10 depending on the season. We stayed here for one week, during which we learned about the local culture, the culture of those we stayed with, and a little bit about blueberry farming.
