Descripción
Hi, we are Joanna (32) and Lukas (37) and we were both born and raised in Switzerland, near the German and French border. We are creative, open, caring, nature- and animal-loving people. We are curious about learning new things and meeting new people and learning about them. We live an "unconventional" lifestyle for Swiss standards, freedom and independence is what we strive for most in life and not material things.

Joanna loves travelling, being in nature, creating/drawing, listening to music and everything that comes along with these things. She is an honest person and loves to work with everything involving nature, animals, cleaning, building, creating and more. Meeting new people, having deep conversations about life are things she really appreciates. She is an active person, loves riding the bicycle, running and working-out as well. As a graphic-designer, she might be working on some projects during the stay as she is trying to continue working as a freelancer in this field.

Lukas is equally interested in everything regarding travelling, animal-care, and nature. He loves cooking, creating, working outdoors and many more things. He likes good/deep conversations about life. Music, sports (Basketball in particular) and languages are amongst his interests as well. He's an authentic, humorous, kind and always helpful person and occasional smoker. As a musician he might also be doing some freelance work or music-production during the stay.

We like spending time with others, but being to ourselves is equally important to us and we enjoy some independence at times. We are excited to meet our next Workaway hosts that might be you. :)

We are both very efficient and hard-working persons. We can do and like to do everything involving gardening, landscaping, cooking (Lukas LOVES cooking), creating, painting, cleaning, working with animals, and more. Also we are eager to learn new things like carpeting, crafting and such.

This was our very first workaway and we couldn't be happier of how the outcome was. There are no words to describe the love and passion Cristal and Stephan are doing this with. We felt welcome from the very first second of our two-month stay and cherrished every moment of it. Whether it be helping in the garden, watering the various flowers and… read more the green-house, splitting fire-wood, mowing the lawn, fixing a broken turbine, isolating, dry-walling, painting, pressure-washing the whole patio or help preparing for several happenings, there was always something to do and precise instructions and detailed informations on what we were doing and what we were doing it for that came along. Stephan is a teacher throughout, he lives for explaining things and does it with great detail. His knowledge of 1st-nations, beer, geography, languages and everything around the Chilliwack area is interesting and astonishing. He has a wonderful sense of humor, just like Cristal who is a true garden- and household-ferry. Her passion for everything growing on their property is amazing and she's a wonderful cook as well as a great tour guide. The way these two have raised their family and "collected" friends during their life is admirable and a lot of them became family and friends to us as well. The things we did and learned will be in our memories for the rest of our lifes. The various tasks we got to help with were one thing, but during our spare-time we were happy enough to learn a lot about the surrounding area. We did trips to Vancouver, a logging-show, rodeo, went kajaking, had many great dinners, lunches and kaffee&kuchen, went on hikes and bike-rides, had deep talks, shared laughs with their (adult) kids, relaxed at the pond or in the hot-tub, threw pizza- and other parties and enjoyed spending time with their animals (Misty, we miss you). We could write sooo much more about our stay with this wonderful family but we leave it at that for now, as we know we will sure be back...rather as friends/family then as work-awayers. :) There's not much left to say than THANK YOU, Cristal, Stephan, Carl, Liv, Emilie, John, Anne, Elias, Oma and Opa and all their friends that have become friends to us as well all of you will be in our hearts forever. This workaway was a once in a life experience and it will be very hard to top from here on out! We already miss you while writing this...
