Hi! I'm Jieyi from China.

I recently graduated with a degree in Tourism Management, but honestly, some of my best lessons didn't happen in a classroom. They happened while traveling, volunteering, and living with local people in different countries.

Over the past few years, I've traveled, studied, and joined work exchange programs across Asia. I spent time as an exchange student in Taiwan, worked as a camp counselor in the United States, and joined Workaway experiences at a hostel in Malaysia and a café in Japan. Every new place has taught me something different, and I love learning through everyday life.

I enjoy slow travel much more than rushing from one attraction to another. I'd rather wake up early and visit a local market, eat where local families eat, or spend an afternoon talking with people than check famous places off a list.

What I love most about Workaway is that it allows me to become part of a place instead of just passing through it. Sharing meals, helping with daily tasks, learning local habits, and meeting people from different backgrounds always become my favorite travel memories.

Those experiences also made me fall in love with a simpler lifestyle, away from busy cities and constant schedules. I'm very interested in sustainable living, gardening, cooking, housekeeping, and learning practical skills around a home or farm. I'm always happy to help with daily chores, cleaning, general maintenance, or anything else that needs an extra pair of hands.

People often describe me as easy-going, curious, and adaptable. I learn quickly, enjoy staying active, and take every task seriously. Once I decide to do something, I always try my best and pay attention to the small details.

For interests I enjoy photography, making travel videos, playing tennis and gym, and writing about my travel experiences on social media. I like sharing local culture, hidden places, and everyday moments that many travelers never notice.

One dream I have is to create a volunteer local guide project in my hometown one day, where local young people can introduce visitors to real community life and culture instead of only famous attractions.

I'm looking forward to meeting kind people, learning new skills, sharing stories, and creating meaningful memories together. Maybe I'll even cook you a bowl of Chinese rice noodles if we have the chance!

I speak both Mandarin and English.

I’ve picked up hands-on experience with housekeeping, gardening, hostel front desk work, customer service, and general volunteer labour. I’m dependable, hard-working and physically strong — I don’t shy away from messy, hands-on jobs at all. I’m always ready to pitch in wherever extra help is needed, and I love picking up new practical skills as I go. I hold a valid Chinese driver’s licence with official English translation, which I can legally use to drive around Australia for up to six months.

I absolutely love spending time with kids too! I’m happy to act as a playmate for your children, organise simple games and fun activities to keep them entertained if you need someone to look after the little ones.

I also create travel content and run posts on Chinese social media platforms. If you’d like to connect with more Chinese visitors or grow your audience back in China, I’m more than happy to chip in with translation, photo/video content creation and social media promotion for your place.

Other things I'm interested in during my free time: photography, cooking simple Chinese food, taking long walks, reading, exploring local communities, and spending time outdoors. I enjoy a slower lifestyle and appreciate simple daily routines.
