Hello workawayers, I'm Idir, a 26yo French backpacker.

I am currently traveling South East Asia with the ambitious challenge of returning to France by lands !

A few months ago, on June 2023, my trip began in Perth (Australia). After an amazing road trip towards Darwin, I met a sailor who offered me to be a crew aboard his boat and reach Indonesia. My project of travelling Asia without flying took shape, and I made it that way so far to Malaysia (where I am now). The reasons of such a choice are diverse: experience traveling in slow mobility, adapt my journey to alternative means of transports when necessary such as boat, train, bus... and have a reduced environmental impact. I don't know if it will be easy to achieve this challenge until Europe, but I recon it is possible. However at the moment I focus on South East Asia where I would like to discover, explore, understand its diversity of cultures and environments and where I am also willing to occasionally offer my contribution to local projects by volunteering. I am writting a blog about my travel and working on a photo-audio documentary project, so I am also very keen to share about it !

ABOUT ME:
After graduating with a bachelor degree in Business and Economics, I had my best volunteering experience for 8 months in a Greek NGO that is in charge of refugees in Athens where I was teaching about geography and environment.
I consider myself as a curious, enthusiastic, tolerant and insightful person with a permanent thirst for understanding new things.
I do portrait photography. I am fascinated by self-sufficient lifestyle and passionate about permaculture. I love hiking. I'm also very interested in learning sailing because I believe it is the hightest level of freedom...
