Hiya! My name is Gideon and I’m 21 years old. After studying at ANU in Canberra for six months, I’m travelling the Aussie (south)east coast . Now I am looking for a workaway place after hearing amazing stories from my sister and brother who’ve been workawayers in Australia and throughout Europe for years already.
Meeting local people and learning from their experiences is one of the best parts of travelling for me. This, in addition to seeing unique places, is the main reason why a workaway is such a perfect opportunity! I’m a motivated and dedicated worker with 4+ years of experience in greenkeeping at a championship golf course. I love to and am quick to learn new skills and immerse in your way of living. Making and living the stories I can tell my (grand)children is the goal! :)

I have 3+ years of experience as a greenkeeper at a championship golf course, which received numerous prizes as best-maintained / best greens of Europe. We worked in a team of around 20 greenkeepers every day from 0600-1500, but some tasks were done alone (such as mowing the grass, weeding, etc). I’ve routinely done all kinds tasks, including cutting down trees, installing drainage systems underneath the grass and the daily tasks such as weeding and repairing the grass. I’ve also driven various vehicles, including workmans, small tractors and excavators.
I’m quick to learn new skills and don’t mind getting my hands dirty. I’ve helped friends with in-house maintenance / moving / etc as well, and I was always happy to work together with others.
I have limited experience working with animals (caring for but also preparing hunted geese and hares for meat) , but definitely not afraid to gain more experience!
