Hi I'm George, a friendly, adventurous and curious 23 year old from Bristol, UK. I'm now home having been travelling in my campervan around mainland France and Corsica.

I've spent the last few years bouncing between travelling and different types of jobs. I completed a digital marketing apprenticeship, travelled in South East Asia, and started working on the Bristol docks for boat tour company Bristol Packet, where I crew on the boats, work behind the bar, and give historic tours of the city by boat. Recently I bought a camper van (a custom Ford Transit named Vicky) and toured Europe in spring 2024.

I love spending my time while travelling making unique experiences and developing myself.

Why I like to travel:

I love experiencing different cultures, histories, and meeting new people from which I love to learn and grow my experience and perspective - and enjoy life together! I also love nature, so the more beautiful parts of the world I can see the better. This is what I set out to do again with this adventure.

I’m looking to reconnect with myself, and spend some time alone to read books, enjoy other cultures and be inspired to be creative. I also am very sociable and love meeting people.

Here are a few of my passions and hobbies to let you get to know me a little bit better...

- I am transfixed by nature. My favourite thing to do is explore in nature, in particular I love to forage for and learn species of plants and fungi.
- I love to cook. I have been mostly vegan for three years now, and my passion for cooking food really kicked off since I went veggie. It's truly where I feel stimulated and at peace.
- I love music, particularly how it relates to community. I love being part of the Bristol music scene and socialising at club nights and festivals. I'm also starting to create my own music.
- I like to exercise - playing basketball, climbing and walking are among my favourite past-times.
- I enjoy films and love spending time at my local independent cinema.
- I also love photography, reading books (fiction, politics etc.), playing video games and role-playing games like D&D in my spare time.

I have been on two major trips, South East Asia in 2023 and Europe by camper van in 2024, now again in 2025 for ~10 weeks!

I went to South East Asia in 2023 with my best friend, and it was an eye-opening experience! I gained a new sense of independence, I loved meeting people of many different countries and backgrounds, enjoyed seeing the sights and the beautiful landscapes. I spent just over 2 months in total, visiting Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam - which was my favourite country as it is so unique and culturally rich. Not to mention, my favourite experience of renting motorbikes for a few days and driving around the mountains in North Vietnam. I also loved meeting great friends, some of whom we travelled with for a number of weeks and stayed in a house together in Chiang Mai - we have kept in touch since as good friends. This trip allowed me to see the magic of travelling - the people, the culture - it had me hooked!

In the spring of 2024, myself and my now ex-partner went on a 2.5 month trip around Central Europe in a camper van which I had bought, a Ford Transit named Vicky! I am planning to do a few more trips in Europe and the UK (Ireland, Scotland). We did a lot in that amount of time, driving through Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia, North Italy, Switzerland and Luxembourg. I loved the freedom we got from having the van, able to really go off the beaten path and explore cities, towns, and pieces of nature that you would struggle to reach otherwise. Some of my favourite memories include wine-tasting in a sunny Slovenian vineyard, visiting the various historic castles of the Czech Republic, finding a secluded thermal hot spring in the beautiful mountains of Slovakia, staying at the house of a friend in Berlin and seeing the city’s culture, drinking home-brewed Belgian beer and spending time on the sunny Croatian coast where we rescued two young stray dogs from a dangerous road and took them to an adoption centre after taking care of them. I also loved being to stay (almost) anywhere that we liked. It was an amazing and freeing time of life, and I’m very excited to be doing it all again this Spring!

First of all, I am a fit young person who is keen to learn and happy to help wherever it is needed.

Here is a list of some of the skills I have to offer and my experiences using them...

Cooking - Vegan/vegetarian cooking is a passion of mine, and something that I have become skilled at. I find cooking for myself therapeutic, and also love to cook tasty and nutritious meals for others.

Foraging - I have a passion for wild food so I have developed an interest and knowledge in identifying edibles like plants and mushrooms.

Driving - I have extensive experience driving a car and van in numerous countries.

Websites and Social Media - I have a grasp of the digital world having received a distinction grade in my digital marketing apprenticeship, and can work online in website and social media spaces well.

Photography - I like expressing myself through pictures and usually take my film camera wherever I go! I also have professional experience having taken photographs in my marketing apprenticeship for websites and social media.

Communication - I am a great communicator. I'm conscientious, and have honed my public speaking skills by giving history commentaries ay my current job giving boat tours at Bristol Packet.

Gardening - I like to be self sufficient and wish to work towards owning my own vegetable garden some day. For now I like to do some gardening with my mum, so I am confident working in this environment.

Painting and Decorating - I have experience painting and decorating in my bedroom at home and in my van, Vicky.

General labour - I'm not skilled at labouring but have lent a hand to various jobs and have spent time in and around building sites, so would be happy to do physical work to help complete any projects.

Cleaning - Cleaning is an element of my job so I am always conscientious and tidy, as well as willing and able to deep clean.

Bar work - I've worked behind a bar for a while so know how to pour pints and serve customers.

Rope work - This is also part of my job on the boats, so I understand basic rope work.

Working with Children - I worked for a year in a children's shoe shop and have young relatives and neighbours, so I have experience communicating with children.

Being with pets/animals - I have owned pets previously, and walked the dog for my ex-partner all the time, as well as having rescued two dogs while in Croatia. I also love cats and other animals, so I'm comfortable around any animals/pets.
