Hello ! My name is Shahrzad (like the storyteller from 1001 Nights). I'm French and Iranian. I was born in Shiraz, grew up in Nice in the south of France and was living in Bordeaux just before I left on trip.
Last year, I decided to quit my job and travel around Japan. I've been preparing for this trip for a year. My aim was to have a complete experience in a country with a totally different culture and lifestyle. Thanks to WorkAway, I've done 5 exchanges with lovely peoples : 2 Japanese families, helped an American in his green house, worked in a Japanese house for a franco japanease couple, and also volunteered in a youth hostel in Montains. And to keep the momentum going, I decided to apply for a WH visa to discover New Zealand alone with my motorcycle!
When I was in France, I preferred to visit new places in France by different ways, like the train or even my bikes. I want to discover the world in a different way and enjoy the little things around the world, whenever I get the chance.
I'm familiar with the site and another application of this type, Warm Shower, and I like the concept of exchange. With WarmShower, I've met other French cyclists and camped in their gardens, shared meals and had a great time. This is also my goal with Workaway, to connect and stay in touch with my hosts. To take the time to discover new environments, talk about the culture, help, taste and also cook new meals.

My background: I've been working at a medical company since 2019 as a regulatory affairs specialist. This start-up has an innovative technology for heart disease. I have a master's degree in biology and life sciences. I've always been curious about nature, biology and so many aspects of culture and civilization around the world. My background makes me an open-minded person and I now want to travel and take the time to discover the world or many countries. I enjoy reading, drawing and interacting with people.
I have a good knowledge of computers and driving (cars and motorcycles), which makes my life easier. In addition, I want to make the most of my trip to New Zealand as I did in Japan: learning new skills such as discovering new sustainable habits, gardening, childcare and education.
I'm a kind, curious and active person. I'm an easy-going person and can adapt quickly to different situations. I've started learning Japanese and I'm continuing to do so, and I want to improve my English more and more. I always want to learn new things, something meaningful and productive. I love nature and sports (swimming, cycling, trekking, CrossFit) and I'll be happy to trek with my host to discover the beautiful seasons. I hope to participate in a volunteer project and live sustainably. I'm interested in various activities such as language teaching, helping to renovate a house, gardening, childcare, nature conservation, home help, at least…. LIVING AND SHARING A NICE LIFE!
