Who Am I?

I’m a explorer who loves to enjoy life and dive into new adventures. While I like a bit of order, I’m all about embracing the unexpected and making the best of every situation.

I have a passport and I’m not afraid to use it!

Love diving into new cultures, trying weird foods, and getting lost in strange cities. Exploring new places and cultures is a big passion of mine. I love immersing myself in local traditions and cuisines.

Experimenting with recipes and creating delightful meals is a joy for us. I’m always up for a cooking session!

Love animals, cycling and nature.

It is so disheartening that, after all of the effort that has been put into improving conditions for the volunteers, our work is undermined and future potential volunteers discouraged by one dishonest review.
It opens with respect and ends with love, both totally at odds with the content in between. In addressing the content, whilst completely… read more understanding that people’s opinions can differ, the facts cannot change:
• There are 4 toilets available to the volunteers, not 2;
• There are 2 kitchens, not 1 – recognising that the kitchen was, indeed, small and given the good weather here in Spain, an outside kitchen was built with hob, sink and drinking water on tap to improve conditions for the volunteers;
• There was a coffee machine which had to be discarded as previous volunteers had failed to maintain it. On request (no begging required), 2 coffee presses, not 1, were provided from our personal belonging, one of which was quickly broken;
• Between the 2 kitchens, more than enough pans are available for the volunteers to use;
• There is adequate cupboard space and 3 large fridge/freezers – how the volunteers choose to use them is up to them;
• Again, the volunteers could choose whether to cook together or separately;
• In total, the cleaning rota for the shared spaces allowed for a maximum of 80 minutes per week for each volunteer (less if more volunteers), so not sure how this, together with 5 work hours per day feels like 24-hour days (particularly as the spaces weren’t being cleaned);
• As Ellen was aware, the “mould” in the shared accommodation was a recent development, resulting directly from racks of wet washing left for days (despite 25-degree sunshine outside) and removed by us on her last day, after a week of asking for it to be removed. This included 2 bin bags of wet, stinking towels that had to be binned.
It ridiculous to suggest that what a volunteer asks for is not important given the amount of personal money spent on improving conditions for volunteers, the regular meetings held to discuss any issues and the ongoing efforts to keep shared spaces clean and tidy – indeed, we have seen a marked improvement in this is in the past couple of days, following recent departures.
Whilst expressing a love for the dogs, perhaps Ellen should have considered the impact this inaccurate, negative feedback could have on those dogs.
