    Hi everyone!

I'm Anna, a 41-year-old global citizen living in Finland. I have lived and travelled around the world, eg. in Australia twice and Thailand a few years back. My idea was to stay overseas (I was teaching Social Studies in Thailand) but as my mum got sick, I returned to Finland to look after her and brought my loyal Thai rescue dog Chase with me. Soon I fell in love with someone I had known for a decade but hadn't been in contact with for a long time. Ville and I have been inseparable ever since, I love him so much! While back in Finland, I decided to do a second Uni degree. Next year I will become a licensed social worker, I've got pretty much just a dissertation left. I have worked in the social field pretty much my whole adult life so this is not new to me, it just makes me a licensed practitioner.

The idea is to move to the countryside in a couple of years and open up a farm that offers wellness and rehabilitation, such as yoga retreats, animal-assisted therapy, and a relaxing b&b close to nature. My dream is to have lots of animals and lead a simple life with my spouse, Ville. The good thing is that I have managed to make him a horse lover too =D

After my mother's death, my values changed a bit, or perhaps I was intuitively led to horses that I have always loved. I found western riding and natural horsemanship. Something, I have wanted to learn ever since I read Monty Roberts' book in my exchange student year in Australia. At the moment, I want to learn as much as possible about western riding as I will buy my first horse after graduating from Uni. I have done a little bit of cattle work on horseback and on foot. I find it super interesting and want to learn more. Believe it or not, I have worked in the Outback, in Western Australia at a (cattle) station. The downside was that my boss back then believed that it was better that ladies stay in the kitchen rather than work beside men. I did get to experience the outback lifestyle though and loved it. I also got to experience the cattle sorting, though, unfortunately, they used motor vehicles (and a small airplane) for that and there were no horses. I have to stay, the staff missed me when I left! I made mean desserts and cakes all the time. I'd love to cook and bake for you during my stay too.
I'm very outdoorsy in general and love my quiet time in the forest. It's one of the best things I know going campervaning and hiking with my dog!

I have done some voluntary work previously, such as work at animal shelters both in Finland and in Thailand. I also went to work at a children's home in Thailand. You can read about the experience on my blog (or check out the cool pics) too!

I have a can-do attitude for sure and I don't complain too much (well, Ville might think otherwise but considering how much mess he makes in the house, I think I'm entitled to say a few words every now and then =D) In Finland, we have this saying that go through hard rock. This describes the Finnish persistence (and stubbornness when needed). I think I fit into that description pretty good! I used to be more hot-headed when I was younger. Now I have mellowed a bit, become older and wiser (hehe). Finnish people are very trustworthy too. When we say we do something, we deliver it. This might give the idea that we are a bit serious folks but that's not the whole truth. You need humor to go through the day, whether it be at work or in your free time and I enjoy goofing around in my own way, such as making handstands everywhere I go. In addition, I do enjoy chilling and having fun too. I love a glass (or a few to be honest) of chilled white wine and occasionally, let loose on the dance floor. I used to dance ballet when I was younger and Ville and I are planning on getting some salsa classes in the nearby future.

I used to write a blog when I was living in Thailand (and for a while in Finland too). I actually started it to describe my feelings during the yoga teacher training that I did but ended up expanding it as I noticed that I love writing and creating my own website. Unfortunately, I haven't had time for it anymore but if you want to see what I was doing back then, please have a look at hammockstories.blog. It has been inactive for a while though so it's not working very well. I have an IG handle too (hammockstories) and it works better. If you need any help with your website or social media I'm happy to give a hand. I mean, I'm not super techy when it comes to website development but perhaps I know a thing or two.

What else... If you have any questions, I'm happy to answer!
If you need any recommendations perhaps one from my Australian host family would do. I have used it on my Trusted Housesitter profile too. Please ask if you would like to see it. We have done one cat sitting in London a few years ago and doing our second one in Bath, UK this Christmas.

I love working with animals, horses, western riding, natural horsemanship, cooking, baking, yoga, handstand training (it's addictive being upside down), reading, languages, traveling, hiking, and lifelong learning (I have a bad habit of starting new projects as I constantly want to learn new)!
