Hi! We are Andy & Karen Kite, and we currently live in the Great Smoky Mountains of North Carolina, USA. We are 31 and 32, respectively, and have been married since 2016. Karen is an art teacher, and Andy is a lawyer by trade.

We are both from the USA (Karen is from the Appalachian Mountains of Western Maryland, and Andy is from Atlanta, Georgia). We met and got married while Andy was in law school; we plan to quit our jobs to travel and meet new friends all over the world before we (God willing) "settle down" somewhere and have kids.

We both are fluent in English. Andy can speak some Afrikaans and Spanish, and Karen can speak some German. We would LOVE to practice German, Afrikaans, or Spanish with you if you speak any of those languages.

Karen is an extremely talented artist (yes, this is Andy speaking). She is trained as an animator, but is experienced at illustrations, cartoons, making murals, etc. She currently works as an art teacher for children aged 5-15. We're both great with kids and love to teach!

Andy loves to cook, especially recipes from his home state of Georgia. We love good food, good wine, good beer, and good conversations.

We love and value all people, and cultivate (as best we can) a lifestyle of honesty, other-centeredness, hard work, peace, forgiveness, generosity, and respect for others. We always seek to listen and put others' needs before our own. Life has taught us how good communication solves (and prevents!) many problems. We like living simply and sustainably. We're super carefree, nonchalant, fun, and goofy. Andy is always making jokes (some of them are good). We love listening to good stories and meeting interesting people. We value all people, especially the ones who our culture tends to throw aside (elderly folks, special needs folks, kids), and enjoy helping and spending time with them.

We both have experience taking care of chickens and children, and we want to have more. We have also some gardening experience between the two of us.

Learning new things (skills, languages) and meeting new friends are our two favorite things. We are super easy to get along with. We have had numerous jobs... teacher, lawyer, barista, professional mascots.
Karen is an incredible problem solver and practical thinker, and loves working with her hands. Andy has very few practical skills, but loves meeting people and has never met a stranger. We try to be as considerate and respectful as possible in any way.
