Descripción
We are a small organic farm at the edge of Albuquerque NM. We have gardening and landscaping and building chores year round. We are walking distance to a regional train for trips to Santa Fe. We enjoy music and camp fires during the summer. We have many camping areas nice indoor bathroom and we provide meals, mostly vegetarian. We work hard to make quests feel welcome and often take them to local points of interest.

We live in an historic adobe home that is approximately 125 years old. We are located on the original El Camino real, which is the route established by the Spanish, connecting Mexico city with Santa Fe. While visiting the waters can visit history sites from colonial Spanish and native American pueblos. My wife and I knowledgeable about historic sites and have spent a lifetime exploring the Colorado plateau All the national parks are within a days drive.

I had such an amazing time here. Both Raven and Clorinda were so kind and hold so much knowledge and wisdom. Living on the property felt like I was in my own little tropical paradise plus I got to meet some of their amazing friends. I learned how to slow down and enjoy the present working here. Overall, we had a very nice near-month with Raven and Clorinda. I would suggest it to many people, but it is surely not for some--especially those who can't or don't want to really work. Though we will take many positive memories from our stay, there were a couple things that kept me from feeling I could give it 5-stars because to me, that means… read more everything went perfectly and I could not think of a thing I would have changed. I'll explain:

PROS OF THIS WORKAWAY:
1. Clorinda's cooking is phenomenal! Not many people can make every vegetarian dish so flavorful. Clorinda is also one of the sweetest, gentlest people you will meet, and she is a wonderful conversationalist!
2. We experienced a high degree of privacy. We stayed in our van and used the casita for cooking and bathing, but if workers can't sleep in their vehicle, there is a couple small places to stay around the property. Most times, the bathroom will be shared, but the sleeping space will be private.
3. Raven is very knowledgeable about growing many things. He loves to teach. One can learn a lot from him in this regard. He always says "Thank you."
4. Some days we worked on projects on our own, allowing us to spend those 5 hours listening to music or podcasts.
5. The area is beautiful and central. Workers can have a very nice walk or run right from the house, or the mountains are just a short drive for a hike. The property is not far outside town, so shopping for essentials isn't hard to do if workers have their own vehicle.

NOT-SO-PROS OF THIS WORKAWAY:
I will just talk about our personal experiences that we would have liked to have gone differently.
1. We felt quite taken advantage of when Raven asked if we would be interested in going on a road trip to his former home in Arizona. In the end, it was a lot more physical work for the two of us than was let on--16 hours to be precise. But more than just the physical work in the sun, we were upset that a lot of that work involved cleaning up of rat feces, and that we also had to sleep one night in a building filled with it. It must be said that we were given an additional day off to make up for how the weekend went, but I believe that may have led to our second disappointing experience:
2. When we first arrived, Raven said that we would be fed two meals per day and then on our own for the third, even on our days off. Our first weekend, we were given plenty of eggs, bread, and leftovers to feed us for those two days. Our second set of days off, before the weekend in AZ, we still had some food of our own and we felt awkward having to ask, so we didn't receive any those days. Our last set of days off was a three-day weekend: the "extra" day off being Friday, and then our regular Sat/Sun off. Thursday after we finished work, we asked Raven what the plan was for food over the weekend, and he told us that we would be on our own, that he would not be cooking for us. I reminded him that he had told us at the beginning that we would receive food over the weekends, but he insisted that was not something that he provided for workers.
3. The casita sees a lot of bugs. It's not a big deal, but it might bother some people.

Thank you to both Raven and Clorinda for so many things. Thank you for teaching us about what it’s like to increase/provide self-sustainability through gardening. We plan to use this valuable knowledge in the future!
Clorinda, thank you for the lovely discussions, absolutely delicious meals, and for always checking up on us.
Raven, thank you for the privacy we were given through the use of the casita, for the ability to choose from a few projects we feel excited/best fit to take on, and for answering all of our plant questions with expertise.
