Descripción
I Jón live with my wife Elsa María. We have four daughters, and six grandchildren, they do not live at home anymore but come to visit and help around when they can. We have around 270 sheep, chickens, a dog, and a cat.
This summer we will be expanding the types of animals we have, as we will offer the tourists to see diverse farm animals such as turkeys, pigs, sheep, calves and hopefully horses (not for sure though)
We are also in to tourism where we rent out apartments for guests and have a new café running in the summer.
Elsa María works off the farm, she is a teacher. But she stays home in the summer time.
We live in the West-fjords of Iceland in a fjord named Dýrafjordur. It is 18 km to the next town called Þingeyri. The weather here is never the same but the nature is always just as stunning.
If you would like to work on our farm you would have to be willing to help with the animals, mend fences, help with harvesting and greet tourists with a smile. it would not hurt if you could bake cakes for the café, but if not Elsa will teach you as she is a great cook and baker.
We are looking for someone that is willing to stay with us for at least 3 months.
Do you think your up for this challenge? Let's get in contact with one another.
We look forward to your message

Ayuda
In the spring everything comes alive, tourist season, lambing season and more.
In the spring time the sheep have there lambs and they need to be fed, taken care of and helped if needed. When the snow melts, we start mending fences.
We open the café to an everyday service, tourist´s come and go, so cleaning is needed.
In the summer the sheep wander around the mountains with there lambs freely.
Late summer we harvest our hey.
In the autumn we need to get the sheep home from the mountains (which is a lot harder and more fun that it sounds). Feeding and taking care of sheep.
Be a friend :)
We need somebody that would stay 3 months or even longer with us and experience Icelandic farming, unique landscape and lifestyle.
We do offer a paid stay, and the taxt is according to the union rate in Iceland and for all worked hours.Idiomas hablados

Algo más...
Here is beautiful landscape, mountains to walk on. Short to the next swimming pool... you will get to know one of the northest places in the world. Over the winter time there is lots of snow and northern lights and travelling can be difficult.
There is bus transport on weekdays between the places around here.Un poco más de información

Emma was so funny and nice. She was always ready to help, jumped up if she knew Nonni was going to do something... even if she had no idea what it was or how it would end, She had NO experience with farming or animals when she came, but she was almost (might have taken a few times f. example stirring in the sheephouse ;) ) She… read more
