Covd situation: There is no quarantine requirement or post arrival testing at present. Things are very normal in Mizque and the host has CDS on hand which has been approved as an optional treatment after widespread successful use in Bolivia. We believe in terrain versus germ theory and as such live to strengthen our natural immune systems with sunlight, exercise in the garden and wider surrounds, staying happy, maintaining social connection and upholding important customs and traditions

Simon has been practicing permaculture and natural healing modalities for 15 years on 3 continents. We cultivate diverse organic vegetables and medicinal plants.

We offer space for those that wish to learn practical skills including eco construction, organic farming, seed saving, medicinal plants, alternative healing, healthy eating and community building.

The farm is situated 15 minutes walk from the plaza principal to the authentic city Mizque, set in a productive valley with a temperate climate. You can interact and experience a strongly Quechua culture and practice your Spanish both on the farm and with the wider community. There are plenty of natural attractions to experience in your free time also.

There are several rivers nearby to swim and some canyons/mountains to explore. The landscape is littered with Incan ruins and fossils revealing the rich history Mizque has.

Jessica is a certified yoga instructor and an amazing chef.

Simon is a mountain bike guide with bikes available for rent. Tours are offered at 50% discount to volunteers. The trails are world class.

All you need is an inquisitive mind and a great attitude. That said, we particularly appreciate people with a passion. E.g. dancing, massage, meditation, alternative healing, cooking. If that says "me" to you then please send me a line.

Our minimum stay for volunteering is two weeks but a month is usually needed to be able to make a good contribution, experience the culture, nature and learn the systems. For shorter stay options please see our website.

If you can bring organic seeds this is a great contribution.

We always have work in the garden and with our small animals that is part of daily life on the farm. We also produce some artesanal products. In addition to this we have a long wish list of permaculture projects that often get paired up with volunteers whom have experience or interest and time to complete.

We have implemented and use many techniques to promote organic and water-efficient cultivation methods.

    These include:
    - An adapted bokashi compost system for farm-scale production. There will be some daily handling of this giving you the opportunity to learn this important system.
    - Water harvesting and watering - using drip, sprinkler, swale and traditional flood irrigation.
    - Experimental gardens including instant (no-dig), tractor assisted larger and herb spirals etc
    - Greenhouse work to reproduce and germinate plants
    - Planting trees / food forrest
    - General maintenance around the land
    - Participation in the local syndicato community working days
    - help with writing and social media
    - assistance for when workshops are being held.
    - feeding the growing list of animals including dog (Rocky), ducks and chickens.
