  Hello we are two friends, Valerie (43)Belgian and Chris (43)English, living off grid live in Portugal.
  We love nature, adventure, sports, food, travels and meeting new people.
  
  We would like to work with volunteers on Chris's land, 3 hectares, located in Povoa Palhaca, Fundao district. The land is quiet and green, with many trees and walled terraces, 550m high nestled on a hill with breathtaking panoramic views of Monsanto, Spain and Portugals highest mountain Serra de Estrela.
  
  We offer the possibility of living off grid in a heavenly peacful setting. You can enjoy nice hikes on the mountain, bike rides (your own bike) or take a walk to Central Cafe, 30 minutes for a coffee. You can meet 1 of our neighbours, Anna, Portugese, who has made organic cheese for the past 30 years, living off grid, from a heard of just 5 animals. Or you can just relax and enjoy our yoga platform on one of the scheduled terraces. We have a small, natural spring water pond which can be used for a quick nip.
  
  We are seeking motivated, enthusiastic and positive people to help with our project in return we offer extra care and attention with varied and nutritious food.

  Volunteers will benefit from the possibility of living off grid and connecting with nature. We can pass on our knowledge, skills and the big decisions for the design of an off grid Quinta. Enjoy adventures, exercise and good food. We are both good cooks and like tasty nutritious food :-) We want our volunteers to be happy so you can help us. We will offer a variety of vegetarian food but also fish and meat, barbecue and the opportunity to go together to typical Portuguese restaurant. In return for this we would ask a minimum of 2 weeks, so we have time to enjoy together.
  
  On your days off subject to your own transport, you can visit Estrela Park, Monsanto, Castelo Novo, Serra Gardunha, Castelo Branco, Fundao, barragem of Indanha nova...

  Ayuda

  We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated people who want to invest with us in this great project.
  
  We ask for 2 weeks minimum, we expect you to help 5hours/day, 5 days.
  
  The job is varied and will depend on the climate and your skills, we would love to know if you have specific skills :-)
  
  Help to maintain and clean the land, general maintenance of the different spaces, to plant trees, watering trees, create a compost, to prepare the soil for the future vegetable garden, to build an dry toilet, to build extra platform, renovation / painting of the 2 caravans, to finish the water pipes, and more...
  
  For people with building/carpentry skills we would like to create more wood structures like outside kitchen, toilet and shower so please let us know if you would like to take a more direct role with these.

  Alojamiento

  1 bedroom Apartment, clean, modern, tidy, bathroom, kitchen / dinning, bedroom in the local village which offers mini market and cafe. This is available at the start of the project for volunteers or longer term to couples or skilled people.
  
  There is plenty of space for your caravan or camper, water and electric hook up is available.
  
  Towards the end of April we will be able to offer both caravans as accommodation, we are currently building outside kitchen / bathroom.
  
  Food :-) we will cook for you and eat lunch together. We take care and pride in our food so this will be a nutritious meal made with care and love, mostly vegetarian but sometimes meat / fish. For the evening we will provide you with vegetarian cooking ingredients, vegetables, rice, pasta, fresh eggs and cheese. We love to share a cold beer at the end of the work, but we would like to inform you that we are not interested in people who want to drink heavily, during the day / evening or wish to party.
  
  Once a week we will go to the city so you can hitch a ride to do your own shopping or spend some time in the city.
  Once a week we will go for a short trip to take a hike or swim or place of interest.

  like we said you can enjoy a large variety of walks around. You can go swimming in the typical Praia fluvial or barragem. You can also go to markets. we will tell you when and where. but for sure, a means of transport would be a considerable asset to be able to move easily. The village is 10 min by car, big city 30 min by car.
  if you travel by bus or train fundao would be the best option.
  
  we will be very happy to meet you and show you some places. but also we are both busy workers, so it means that we will not be available during your day off. if we can we will.
  chris will be with us 50% of the time so I will be with you.

  We have Starlink internet so day to day tasks are pretty fast. Downloading / uploading / transferring large files is not possible.
