Hi, I'm Beth in British and I live in Lyttelton, on the Peninsula just outside Christchurch. I'm busy working and find it hard to manage the house and garden. Stay for a while and pick a choice of activities that help me round the house, or that suit your skill set- teach me French; do some gardening; clean the house...but most importantly enjoy the bay!
In spring the water is like glass of a morning, everything is still...take the canoe out, the dog will join you - but come back in before the the wind comes though in the afternoon, else the paddling will get hard!
In the Summer sunbathe on the pontoon in front of the house. Enjoy the long hot evenings - walk down with a towel; watch the sunset and BBQ on the beach.
The Autumn is crisp with blue skies, cycle or hike the hills around the house, or take in the farmers market and cafes 20min walk away in the township.
Winter is cold, but only of a morning - jump on the bus to explore the City, or head to the snow-there's a ride share facebook page - you can be on the slopes within 2hrs from mine! -

Intercambio cultural y oportunidades de aprendizaje
You'd basically be immersed in NZ culture - Kiwi's are up early, sociable and active. It's wholesome, fresh air activities, 'bring a plate' and in bed by 9pm. Okay... there is some night life in Christchurch Town Centre,if you want it and we just got a new stadium with a roof.
Lyttleton (Ōhinehou) is novel as its a heritage site: there' s plenty of Māori and Maritime/Colonial culture to explore. The Township is nested in a volcanic crater which is pretty cool. It has a great live music vibe - go places like Loons, Wunder Bar and The Commoners. Plus there are arts centres where you can learn Maori wood carving/ pottery etc. The main street gets closed for a Saturday food market every week 9am-1pm, yum! The port is active - you can hear it bustling in the background from the house, or you can walk down there and watch logging ships and cruise liners come and go, something I'd never seen close up before. While you're down there you can take a tiny walk-on ferry that runs half hourly to the other side 'Diamond Harbour' and little 'Quail island' where there's a camping hut. Plus, you can walk the rim of the crater for a great view over Christchurch, the Port Hills and see Maori cultural sites along the way...take some snacks, if you want you could be gone all day on a little tramp, some people camp. Some people just get the gondola up, 10mins! In front of my house is the sailing club that hosted SailGP and there's a traditional Maori canoe ( Waka Ama) club, both run lessons for beginners once a month if you like that sort of thing.
Christchurch is a 20 min pootle on the bus, which you can catch 500m from my door.
Sumner Village is a little surf beach 5 min over the port hill from mine. I work there 3 days a week at the health centre and walk my dog there before work ...there's a village dog crew who all know each other, cuuute! Catch a lift over with me and have some breakfast. Sumner also hosts 'The Single Fin Mingle' in March each year...long boards and live music along the esplanade. If the surf is flat, there's a skate park you can play in. There' s also free sunrise yoga on the beach once a month with porridge and hot tubs after. Generally you can hire surfboards/ have lessons there any day the school owners will take you to Bali in the off season if you want. If you're female and worried about surfing on your own, 'Seabirds' will look after you, look them up on Facebook. -

You can do what suits, depending on what you like doing:
My house is perched on stilts on a 1700m2 plot of sloped woodland, it feels like a big tree house. I haven't really decided what to do with the garden yet. We could make a mini garden project for you, or a house DIY project. Carpentry Skills would be much welcomed! I've got a few ideas...
Or,
I've been learning French, at the Alliance Francaise, on and off when work permits...you could give me some lessons.
Or, you could cook and clean if that's your thing...as its the last thing I wanna do when I finish work.
I'm open to suggestions :) -

Alojamiento
You would have a double room, furnished, with bedding and your own bathroom and separate toilet. If you're travelling as a family, a single bed/ airbed/ travel cot would also fit in the room and there's a double sofa bed in the kitchen area. The third bedroom is a gym that you're also welcome to use. The bedrooms are downstairs - Upstairs is an open plan kitchen /dining area with doors to a front deck. There's also a lounge with a wood burner and doors off to front and back decks with BBQ etc. Plenty of space to be sociable, or to chill on your own. The kitchen has all the gadgets if you're a foodie. I eat on the hoof, but happy to slow down and plan meals with you/ eat together, especially if it involves getting the Raclette out!

Algo más...
There's loads to do from the house.
The bus in to Lyttelton ( 5min) and on to Christchurch (30min) stops 500m from the house.
You can also catch the wee ferry from Lyttleton over to Diamond Harbour / Quail Island for a little day trip/ camping adventure.
There is also off street parking at my house. -
