Stefan would love some help with his building tasks, and Konny some gardening support :) - we are looking forward to hosting you.
The current projects in October will be helping Stefan build his underrhe house workshop. We usually work alongside our helpers and are very happy to teach new skills.
============
We are a German family, living in NZ since 20 years, with 3 children, who have left home and are at university or working.
We have 2 lovely dogs , some chickens , 4 sheep 2 hand reared lambs:) and are in the final process of building our off grid house in the Far North in Kerikeri. We have a 15 acre property where we continuously increase the plantations, with the aim to increase biodiversity, and help with erosion control. Stefan and I live a pre retirement lifestyle and mainly work on our house or land. Occasionally Stefan still teaches at a local school.
Workawayer accommodation is in a cute little , insulated caravan (suitable for 2 when travelling together). In addition we can offer places to park a camper van. Our workawayers share the kitchen and bathroom in our house. We share all our meals in the house.
If anyone wants support to work on their own van, Stefan has all the wood working tools and knoweledge and is always happy to give advice and a helping hand.
We provide 3 meals a day and can accommodate a range of dietary requirements.
We have had quite a few workawayers over the last 24 months, helping us with renovations, house building and gardening. We always had a great time and most stayed between one and three weeks.
Kerikeri has no public transport, so it is important to have a car. We currently have a van parked here from previous workawayers that we agreed to sell on their behalf. That van could make your start into your NZ adventure quite easy, as it is fully equipped and green stickered. We also have 2 push bikes that we can share with you to explore the surrounding areas. -

My weeks at this farm were lovely ! I loved and care for all of the animals there (even the rooster), and had the chance to live a few days with Konny and then with Stefan. The whole experience was really nice and for the first time doing something like this they were the perfect hosts. Nace also helped me in my food truck and remained calm under stress. He fitted in easily with the other workawayers and we wish him well on his future travels.
