We are a German family, living in NZ since 18 years, with 3 children, who have left home and are at university or working.
We have 2 dogs, and started building an off grid house in the Far North in Kerikeri. Stefan worked as a teacher, and I am running a small food cart, but since 1 year, we are mainly busy building or planting.
We would need help with land care, mowing, planting , certain aspects of building, cutting up trees, or chop wood etc. We are in the final stages of finishing our house, and are looking for 2 people to help us with our current projects. We will be painting inside and out, building a few small retaining walls, building some new fences, cutting weeds , preparing planting sites, mowing and setting up further irrigation /hoses/pipes etc.
We can accommodate 1-2 people in a cute little caravan (when travelling together). In addition we can offer a beautiful sleeping platform, tent spots and places to park the camper van. Life for our workawayers is a nice camp set up, with outdoor shower , outdoor kitchen and a compost toilet. If anyone wants support to work on their van, Stefan has all the wood working tools and is happy to give advice.
We provide 3 meals a day and can accommodate a range of dietary requirements. We usually cook fresh every evening , mainly vegetarian and like to spend some time around the bonfire - if weather conditions allow for it. This year it has been very windy so we couldn’t light a fire since November. But that hopefully will change.
We have had quite a few workawayers over the last 12 months, helping us with renovations, house building and gardening. We always had a great time and are very inclusive.
At this stage we can host 1-2 people.
We have 2 push bikes that we are happy to share with our guests to explore the area.

The whole experience was really nice and for the first time doing something like this they were the perfect hosts. Philip stayed with us gor 2 weeks and helped us renovate our house. He was always friendly, polite, helpful and nice to have in the house. He either knew how to approach the tasks he was given, or asked so we could help him. Great workawayer, good fun to be around, strongly recommend to others:)

I had such a great time with Konny and Stefan. So nice people with amazing story's and knowledge. I learned so much about cooking renovating and most importantly about local life.
