Join us on a tropical island helping with computer tasks on Ometepe, Nicaragua

  We are Marjut and Zacarias living in a small bungalow in a village called Madronal on the island of Ometepe in Nicaragua. We have three horses and Zacarias takes tourists for riding tours to enjoy our beautiful volcanos and beaches. Marjut is an artist and teaches Kundalini Yoga and meditations. Ometepe is a neotropical Unesco biosphere island on the biggest freshwater reservoir in the country.
  There are two outstanding volcanos, Madera and Concepcion, on the each end of the island. We are surrounded by greenery and the nature here is just special. The land is very fertile, everything grows fast and Ometepe is a home for many different tropical fruits.
  We live a simplified life here and wish to make a place for people to come, enjoy and rejuvenate with us.
  We make home made ice cream with local ingredients. Our milk comes from the cows that are milked by hand, they graze on the mountain pastures, no antibiotics or hormones are used and calves are not separated from their mothers. Our kombucha and fruit smoothies are delicious.
  Apart from our house we have 4,5 acres of land where we want to build a House of Healing Arts, a centre for yoga, meditation and art. Our land is a special place with feeling of peace and views to the both volcanos. We are planning to build with natural building methods using earth and timber for the main structures.
  We are connected with a group of young architects as well as natural building organisations aimed to teach local women to build their own houses in Nicaragua. The architectural plans will follow ancient Indian Vastu principles to construct in harmony with nature. We love gardens and wish to learn more about permaculture and use its principles in planning our site. Last rainy season we built a road to our land and started planting fruit trees and some garden plants. Now we are preparing to start the construction.
  We are looking for a self motivated computer wizard who loves social media to come and help us with all tasks concerning computer! Your two main tasks will be to build our website and to help us to run a crowdfunding project for our Centre. We have loads of ideas but we are lacking the time and technical skills to put them in use.
  If you feel like spending time on a tropical island, hiking the volcanos, eating lots of fruit and working 4-5 hours 5 days a week on computer this may be a place for you. We would love you to have previous experience of crowdfunding.

  You will learn with us about natural building and Vastu principles, Kundalini Yoga and how to make kombucha and ice cream. You will get to practice Spanish with Zacarias and he knows the island for being a native to Ometepe. There are many places to see on the island, hiking the volcanos, kayaking, visiting petroglyph sites and a coffee farm, a butterfly garden, a beautiful waterfall and a small museum with pre columbian pottery found on the island.

  We have a private room with a comfortable double bed, Wifi works everywhere in the house and the garden.We are vegetarians and breakfast, light lunch and one hot meal a day are provided. Sometimes we have a big lunch a light dinner instead.

  No smoking in the house or patio. We have tourists coming to buy ice cream and kombucha and sometimes have a lively company on our patio. There are many places to go and meet other travellers and volunteers. Hostel El Zopilote and chocolate paradise El Pital are both very close to us. There is a pizza night at El Zopilote every Tuesday and Saturday night with a fire show and dancing. Every Wednesday they have cacao ceremony in the afternoon. El Pital is a nice place to go for a swim, hang around, eat gourmet chocolate and they also have activities like yoga, ecstatic dancing and occasional full moon party is hosted there. El Pital also rents paddle boards and there is a kite surfing school a couple of kilometres away.
  Apart from all activities happening around us we live rather a quite and relaxed way in our house.
