We are a Japanese family of four living in Bungoono, Oita. We have two children: a 3-year-old boy and an 10-month-old girl (as of April 2025). In addition to my husband's main job as a carpenter, we grow rice and vegetables.
I love traveling overseas. So far, I’ve traveled to 30 countries and even used Workaway as a workawayer in several places. It was an amazing and memorable experience! After spending three years in Singapore and one year traveling the world, I returned to Japan in 2019. One of my bucket list goals in Japan was to become a Workaway host!
Since 2020, I’ve started growing vegetables and rice. We’re trying to grow them naturally, using methods like fallen leaves and bamboo to create rich soil without chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or other additives.
My husband has been a carpenter for over 10 years. He also loves traveling overseas, especially visiting rural areas to experience authentic local cultures. He enjoys music and plays the drums.
Our main projects involve farming and childcare.
From May to October, it’s farming season, and there’s plenty of work to be done. If you have knowledge of organic farming, we’d be excited to learn from you!
As for childcare, our kids love to play and are easy-going and cheerful.
If you are interested in joining us please COPY & PASTE the questions below and respond to them in detail. Feel free to add anything else you would like to share with us. If you have photos of previous work, projects, skills etc share them too, or provide links to your portfolio, ig account etc.

Ayuda
The tasks and hours will depend on the time you join us and the skills you bring. We primarily need help with:
(1)Gardening
We have a vegetable field and a rice field. Depending on the season, we may need help with tasks like planting seeds,
weeding, or harvesting.
(2)Babysitting and Housekeeping
We’d appreciate your help playing with our cheerful and easy-going baby. Basically I will be in the same room. If the baby cries, I will take care of her.
Alternatively, you may help with light housekeeping tasks while I take care of her.
(3)Teaching Us Cooking
We love trying different cuisines! If you could teach us how to prepare dishes from your country, that would be wonderful.
In return, we’d be happy to share Japanese cooking tips and recipes.
If you’re excited about helping in any of these areas and sharing your skills with us, we’d love to welcome you!Idiomas

I lived in Singapore for three years, so I can speak Singlish! Haha. My husband speaks basic English. My children speak basic Japanese, so it’s perfect for anyone who wants to learn simple Japanese.Alojamiento
Private Japanese style room with tatami floors and futons with private toilet.
Shared kitchen, bath, living room.
We enjoy cooking healthy meals using our homemade rice and locally grown vegetables. However, we occasionally eat meat and fish as well. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate workawayers who require special dietary meals, such as vegan, vegetarian, or gluten-free diets, even if it is for health or religious reasons.Algo más...
It takes 10 minutes by car to the nearest train station. We drive into town almost every day, so we can take you to the station or town if needed.
There is a convenience store and a supermarket near the train station.
On weekends, we often go to hot springs, parks, rivers, and other relaxing places. There are many beautiful nature spots nearby, such as "Harajiri Falls," which is only a 10-minute drive from our place. You’ll be able to relax and breathe deeply in the natural surroundings.Un poco más de información
