  Hello, I'm Christof from Mainz, and in my early sixties, I fulfilled my dream of owning a little house by the sea. This dream, however, involved a lot of work. Friends and family have helped me a great deal. I'm now retired, having previously worked as an architect. I designed the house myself. With climate change, this wonderful place up here is increasingly becoming our summer escape from the city, rather than just our vacation home, as we can hardly stand being in the city anymore. I look forward to meeting you!
  
  Hallo, ich bin Christof aus Mainz und habe mir mit Anfang 60 meinen Traum eines eigenen kleines Häuschens am Meer erfüllt. Dieser Traum bedeutet jedoch viel Arbeit. Freunde und Familie haben mir schon viel geholfen. Mittlerweile bin ich Rentner, früher Architekt. Das Haus habe ich selbst geplant. Mit Zuge des Klimawandels wird dieser wunderbare Ort hier oben mehr und mehr unser Sommer-Stadtflucht-Haus, als einfach nur unser Ferienhaus, da wir es in der Stadt kaum mehr aushalten. Ich freue mich auf Dich!

  Northern German culture; friendly, kind, and open people. Beautiful landscapes: Holstein Switzerland Nature Park with the Holstein Lake District. Pleasant climate. Sports, water sports, and leisure activities: windsurfing, kitesurfing, swimming, golf, tennis, horseback riding. Many destinations nearby: Ice Age Museum, Rampart Museum, beautiful cities (Kiel, Lübeck) and villages, festivals, markets, and restaurants. A glimpse into my own house-building project: painting in an almost finished house. The house is a semi-detached house—all designed by me. Large garden and views of the surrounding greenery. Viele Ausflugsziele in der Umgebung: Eiszeitmuseum, Wallmuseum, schöne Städte (Kiel, Lübeck) und Dörfer, Feste, Märkte, Restaurants.
  Einblick in ein eigenes Hausbau-Projekt: Streichen in einem fast fertigen Haus. Das Haus ist ein Doppelhaus - alles von mir geplant. Großer Garten und Blick ins Grüne. Vom Balkon wunderschöner Sonnenuntergang.

  Primarily, I need help painting the walls and ceilings in the house. The wallpapered walls and ceilings still need a nice, clean coat of white paint. You'll get insights into how I planned and completed a house myself, starting with the basic construction. I'll be painting together with you.
  
  Primär brauche ich Hilfe beim Streichen der Wände und Decken im Haus. Die tapezierten Wände und die Decken müssen noch einen schönen weißen sauberen Anstrich bekommen. Du bekommst Einblicke darin, wie ich ein Haus geplant und seit dem Rohbau selbst fertig gestellt habe. Ich werde zusammen mit euch streichen.

  Food is provided. Workawayers can prepare their own breakfast and lunch. Dinner will sometimes be at a restaurant, sometimes a barbecue on the terrace, or sometimes a communal cooking session.
