  My husband and I are mature students from Edinburgh University in Scotland. We now live in Tulle, France, and are gradually decorating our new house and trying to create a beautiful garden. Any help is appreciated. I love cooking and with 2 local markets, meals here are great!

  Tulle is a lovely French town with lots of opportunities to get involved - especially in the summer. There are local concerts, fantastic food markets, BBQ nights, lake swimming, craft activities and vide greniers (huge flea markets) in many villages and towns nearby. We even have horse racing at Pompadour which is nearby. We have a car and love to travel so we're happy to take you out every day sightseeing (after a morning's work in house). We also have French recipe books and you're welcome to try out some local cooking in the kitchen whenever you want, and of course, we're learning French ourselves and are happy to practice French conversation with you. We also have a piano for anyone who enjoys playing.

  We're always happy to meet people who love gardening and/or can help with light DIY (making a fence, some painting, mosaics, etc).

  We have 2 bedrooms available in a house overlooking the cathedral, near the town centre. The beds are very comfortable and there are two shower rooms and a bathroom (with a bath). The house has internet and there are televisions in all the bedrooms, though you are welcome to join us in the lounge whenever you want. There is a piano available and a BBQ in the garden. The kitchen has everything you need to cook, though home-cooked meals will be provided, along with picnics on days out. There is also a Krupps coffee maker.

  Tulle has 2 traditional markets a week, 1 concert in the cathedral each week, a theatre, another concert/exhibition hall, many art galleries, a military museum and a fantastic swimming pool with outdoor pools and jacuzzis available during the summer. More concerts take place at chateaux in the surrounding area. There is free lake-swimming at nearby Seilhac which we use a lot! At Pompadour, there is regular horse racing (best enjoyed with a picnic), and many flea markets that fill entire towns and make for a lovely day out. During the summer, local producers provide BBQ markets with live music and even fireworks. The local library often offers free French conversation classes.
