  Help us fight marine pollution on the west coast of Norway this autumn 🇳🇴
  Long-term volunteers needed 17 August – 4 September
  
  We are looking for motivated volunteers who care about the environment and want to make a real difference.
  
  Join us on the beautiful west coast of Norway, in the Bergen area, where we work hands-on to remove marine litter from nature.
  
  🌿 About this project (17 August – 4 September)
  This is an intensive coastal clean‑up project based near Bergen. For this period we are looking for long‑term volunteers who can stay for the whole project (17 August – 4 September).
  
  You will:
  - Clean marine litter along the coastline
  - Get to know the coast by boat and from land
  - Help organize and participate in local clean‑up events
  - Work closely with our Norwegian environmental NGO
  - Be part of a small, international crew
  - Spend most days outdoors in wild and beautiful nature along the fjords
  - Autumn on the west coast can be rough, wet and windy – and incredibly beautiful. You should genuinely like being outside in all kinds of weather.
  
  👥 The crew & team leader
  The team will consist of 4 volunteers + 1 team leader.
  
  You will live and work together with our team leader Carole. Carole is originally from Belgium and first joined our organisation as a volunteer herself. She has now moved to Norway to continue working with environmental protection and marine litter full‑time.
  
  Carole is an engaged, social and down‑to‑earth “nature nerd” who loves being outside, playing games in the evenings and creating a good team spirit. We are a group of passionate people who:
  
  - love being outdoors (even when it’s cold, wet and muddy)
  - are not afraid to get our hands dirty
  - enjoy living in a small community
  - like long conversations, board/card games and shared meals
  - care deeply about the ocean and nature
  
  If this sounds like you, you will probably fit right in.
  
  📍 Location & stay
  You will stay at Seletun Environmental Hotel, about 25–30 minutes outside Bergen city centre, on a peaceful peninsula surrounded by forest and fjord.
  
  🏡 Accommodation: Shared volunteer house at Seletun, equipped with kitchen, bathrooms, washing machine and bedrooms. Be aware that you might have to share bedrooms with other volunteers of same gender.
  
  🌲 Surroundings: Forest, hills and sea right outside the door – a historic farmyard surrounded by nature
  
  🛶 Free time: Access to canoes, hiking trails and beautiful viewpoints. On days off you can take the bus or car into Bergen to explore the city, cafés, museums and local culture.
  
  📅 Dates & practical info
  Arrival: 17 August
  Departure: 4 September
  
  Crew size: 5 people (1 team leader + 4 volunteers)
  
  🍽️ Food: Basic food is provided (around 3 meals a day). You cook and eat together as a group. We normally eat a mix of fish, meat and vegetarian meals, and adjust if there are several vegetarians. If you have allergies or a special diet you may need to supplement with your own food.
  
  🛠 Tasks: Beach cleanups (by boat or hiking), sorting and moving waste, basic logistics and maintenance, plus shared everyday tasks like cleaning and cooking.
  
  This is a focused, relatively short project, so we are especially looking for people who are ready to give a solid effort for the whole period.
  
  💪 What we’re looking for
  
  We are looking for volunteers who:
  - Are 18–30 years old
  - Can stay from 17 August to 4 September (full period)
  - Enjoy being outdoors in all kinds of weather
  - Are motivated and ready to work physically
  - Care about the environment and the ocean
  - Are social, respectful and like living in a small community
  - Are not afraid of mud, rain, lifting and long days outside
  - You don’t need previous experience – we will teach you what you need to know.
  - This is not a holiday, but a meaningful and active experience.
  
  If you are ready to contribute, you will:
  - Gain hands‑on experience with marine litter clean‑up
  - Learn more about environmental work, activism and politics in Norway
  - Improve your outdoor skills (boating, canoeing, working in rough terrain)
  - Build strong friendships and be part of a close‑knit international team

  Our organization was founded in 1993 and is a well‑established environmental NGO in Norway with headquarters in Bergen, and regional offices in Tromsø, Trondheim and Oslo.
  
  We work with:
  - Marine litter and ocean protection
  - Climate and environmental policy
  - Ecosystem and nature protection
  - Food security and environmental justice
  - Indigenous rights and social welfare related to environmental issues
  
  Since 2017, we have:
  - Removed over 385,000 kg of marine litter
  - Engaged thousands of volunteers
  - Educated tens of thousands of children and youth

  It’s important that you know our expectations before applying:
  
  You will be expected to work hard and be actively involved
  The work can be physically demanding, wet, cold and tiring
  Some days are long, and the weather can be rough on the coast
  You share a house and live close to other people for the whole period
  Anyone expecting a relaxed holiday will be disappointed.
  But if you’ve read everything and still feel excited, this might be the right project for you.

  We need help to stop marine and river pollution! You can be an important part of doing that with river cleaning and spreading awareness through conversations and social media. You will take part in daily tasks such as cooking and cleaning, but also helping with other environmental tasks the organisation might need help for during your stay.

  🏡 Accommodation & food
  
  You will stay at our environmental hotel, a unique place made up of five traditional houses from different parts of Norway, each with its own story and design.
  
  Our team will live together in one of these houses, called the Oppdal house, which is fully equipped with everything you need:
  Kitchen
  Bathrooms and showers
  Washing machine
  Comfortable bedrooms
  Cozy common areas
  
  🍽️ Food & meals
  Food is provided and prepared together as a group.
  
  We usually have 3–4 meals per day
  The group decides together what to cook
  We serve a mix of fish, meat, and vegetables
  Drinking water is provided
  
  We aim to keep our lifestyle as sustainable as possible.
  If there are several vegetarians in the group, we try to keep meals mostly vegetarian.
  
  There is always flexibility:
  You can buy your own food if you have preferences
  There is access to a car for grocery shopping and errands
  Sometimes we also catch fish that can be used for meals
