We’re a family based in Cowaramup, Western Australia, and we also own a rural bush block in Capel, about 30 minutes from Bunbury. The property is 15 hectares of diverse forest and wetland habitat - a really special pocket of nature. It’s home to Western Grey kangaroos, wallabies, bandicoots, and an incredible variety of birdlife. Native orchids and wildflowers appear throughout the seasons, and the wetland provides habitat for waterfowl and other wildlife.
Over the years, we’ve cared for the property by encouraging regeneration of banksia woodlands and maintaining the wetland. It’s a peaceful, beautiful space where you can really connect with nature, and we’d love to share it with travellers who enjoy practical outdoor work and being surrounded by the Australian bush.Tipos de ayuda y oportunidades de aprendizaje

This is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in an Australian bush property and wetland environment. You’ll wake up to birdsong, see kangaroos in the paddocks, and be surrounded by native bushland. It’s a great way to learn about the plants, wildlife, and ecosystems of Western Australia, and how people manage and care for bush properties here.
We’re happy to share what we know about local flora and fauna, bush regeneration, and land care, as well as stories about the South West community and way of life. In your free time, you can explore the surrounding region — WA’s South West is famous for its forests, surf beaches, wineries, and national parks. It’s a beautiful part of the world and we hope your stay here will be memorable and inspiring.Ayuda
We’re looking for Workawayers who are happy to roll up their sleeves and get involved in practical, mostly outdoor tasks. The kind of help we need includes:
- Weeding and general bushland/garden tidy-up
- Mowing and trimming around the house and firebreaks
- Stacking firewood and clearing small areas
- Assisting with light repairs and maintenance (like mortar patching or oiling timber)
- Tidying and sorting sheds or outdoor spaces
The work is straightforward but physical, and would particularly suit a couple. If you have extra skills with tools, brickwork, or small building jobs, that’s a bonus, but it’s not essential. We’re looking for people who are reliable, practical, and enjoy working outdoors. Stays of 1–2 weeks are ideal.Idiomas hablados

Alojamiento
You’ll stay in a renovated mud brick cottage on the property. It’s very comfortable, with a cosy atmosphere, bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom, and living areas. You’ll have your own private space to relax in, and it’s a great base for exploring the surrounding area. An allowance for food and groceries can be provided, allowing you to cook for yourselves or share meals with us when we visit from Cowaramup.
Algo más...
On your time off you’ll be surrounded by nature right on the property — bush walks, birdwatching, and starry night skies are all part of the experience here.
The property is close to the town of Capel, and from there you can explore much of WA’s South West. Bunbury, Busselton, and the Margaret River region are all within easy reach, with beaches, wineries, forests, and national parks to discover. Nearby attractions include Meelup Beach, Yallingup surf breaks, and the Ferguson Valley with its rolling hills, walks, and local produce.
Public transport is limited, so having your own car or campervan is a big advantage. If not, we can help with pickup from Capel or possibly Bunbury at the start of your stay, depending on timing.Un poco más de información

Yes. There is good phone reception at the property, but no WiFi, so you’ll need your own SIM card or hotspot for data.
Espacio para aparcar autocaravanas
There is plenty of space to park on the property, and you’re welcome to use the cottage facilities (kitchen, bathroom, laundry) during your stay. You’ll also have access to power and water if you need it. It’s a peaceful bush setting, so it makes a great stop for anyone travelling through the South West in a van.
