Welcome to the Beautiful Dordogne Valley, South-Western France
We are looking for helper for for mid September to end of October
I have only recently returned to the Workaway web site this year after a 3 year break as we have been rebuilding the houses. now the hard work is done and looking for some willing happy helping hands to get the gardens and some interiors finished.
One of the most picturesque regions of France, the Dordogne Valley is the perfect place to experience rural life in the French countryside.
Here, I can offer a unique opportunity for cultural immersion — a chance to live the French way of life while enjoying nature, gardening, and creative projects. Please come with a good attitude and respect , this is about helping not just a holiday we offer excellent accommodation in return for your help as well as outings to the local villages and markets .
I speak both French and English in the house, and I encourage you to practice every day.we will be preparing the gardens for winter. doing lavender and rose cuttings I like to be making bird boxes for the winter, and making metal garden sculpture from old carriage wheels .
Workaway are not involved in any aspect of business operation and are not involved in any work on the property in regards to repairs or maintenance . We have a full time handy man who looks after the upkeep of the property .

Hello, my name is Gabrielle.
I’m Australian and have been living in France for 10 years. I moved to the countryside for a peaceful life, for my love of gardening, and the joy of renovating old houses.
Hosting has brought me so much enjoyment over the years — I love meeting new people, learning from them, and sharing my home and lifestyle. For me, it’s not just about getting help, but also enjoying the company, cultural exchange, and friendships that come with it.

If you love nature, culture, languages participating in some help around the property, I’m sure we will have a great time together. Come and enjoy the Dordogne — one of the most beautiful and inspiring parts of France.
Please have an honest and correct Profile , so we can assess your suitability rather than arriving and realising that is really not what you want to be doing and then disappearing from the house with out any discussion . This has been the case recently of workaways who are not realistic or even suitable .Yes its a beautiful location here and many have had a wonderful exchange here but its about joining in and helping out and having a good attitude and some good skills that you can help with here . It is called Workaway ...... not Holiday away ...

Beautiful country side and villages .. The region has many medieval Historical castles and Villages .lots of tourist sites to visit castles and gardens and pre historic Cave sites in the Dordogne valley .
Visit famous prehistoric site at Lascaux . market towns. Learn French language. Ive got. a whole course of books to follow learning about gardening .permaculture vegetables Gardening. -

In 2026 we start again after a break away from the Workaway helpers...come and learn lots of activities gardening planting weeding mulching cleaning out vegetables Garden, and bird boxes for winter
You will need to enjoy the outdoors and know about some gardening pulling out weeds. not my flowers...
Helpers must be neat and clean in the house and helpful in all activities including cooking and washing up and keep the house clean and tidy.
Pleasant attitude and sociable, please be truthful in your profiles you waste your time and mine if you are not interested in gardening or painting light repairs - a good handy person great.. but dont say you do construction and building when you don't. because I am. a fully qualified builder for 25 years. And if you are afraid to get your hands dirty, look elsewhere. If you are concerned more about your daily make up regime or what you are going to wear , find another host. we live in the French countryside. its all pretty natural here.
Out doors "type" of people and those who are a bit fit and have done some physical tasks are more suitable . Most of the tasks are simple enough. and i can teach you many skills..read the past reviews we have had a lot of fun helpers here. the more recent were totally unsuitable ... but Cest La Vie .
..Bring some work shoes Work Gloves and old clothes as we get dirty .. and sometimes paint on them as well. -

Alojamiento
A Private room with private shower toilet or shared if you come as couple or friends. Comfortable all included We have a small Gite nice wooden Chalet style a nice pool as well as river to canoe.
During the week and days you work we share cooking meals and cleaning up. We enjoy lots of good hearty Simple foods & many vegetarian style foods. Breakfast is simple coffee tea. Toasts you have at your own leisure before work commences. then lunch and dinner provided.....
On weekends you have time for yourselves . we often go to markets if they are on but , ..the time is yours to discover the region. Canoeing Hiking great for photography . -

Its possible to be flexible to allow your on line work commitments we have good WIFI through out the property we have 4 cute chickens you need to check them each day. and collect fresh eggs.
