We are a french couple (speaking English!) in our forties with four children aged 13 to 7. Our lifestyle takes us between foreign countries and France, and we have a special connection to the Périgord, where Anne-Sophie is originally from. Five years ago, we fell in love with this old house that required a complete renovation to become our family home, dedicated to our friends as well. It's a space where we love to share, host, and create unforgettable moments.
During the Covid period, we've put all our energy to restoring this house. We worked intensively on the local limestone masonry, made all the oak carpentry, replaced the roofs with terracotta tiles, applied lime and sand plaster in the traditional french old house renovation, and much more. Two years ago, we moved away to live and work in Vietnam.

This summer, we plan to continue the work on a small adjacent house, renovating the interior of an old XVth century tower, and adding a swimming pool (self constructed). For this, we offer to welcome volunteers who want to lend a hand while learning traditional techniques such as lime plastering, creating earth and lime slabs, setting up plumbing networks, and building beam structures, among other skills.

We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic volunteers, ideally with handyman or DIY skills. In exchange for your valuable contribution, we provide three meals a day and offer two double rooms as well as a dormitory for volunteers.

This is an exchange. You need to come with the attitude that you are here to help us. We have a duty of care, so making sure our volunteers are happy and have a good time is our main concern. We try to look after everyone who stays here in a way that we hope our own family would be treated if they were staying with hosts.

If you cannot get out of bed in the morning, suffer from mood swings, struggle to socialize or have an aversion to hard, physical work, this is not the place for you.

The tasks are hard but we laugh a lot. You will be joining a family environment and treated as a member of our family. Meal times are important as we all sit down together to eat and talk and find out about each other. Strong bonds are made in this way and many strong friendships have been made between us and between volunteers.

You need to be strong and fit, have common sense, logic and reason, initiative, a sense of humour and come with a good work ethic and be prepared to help us on site and in the house.

Our property has a beautiful countryside setting, with games, a piano, a terrace for socializing, and everything you need to recharge.

We offer 2 double bedrooms and one dormitory for our volunteers.

Located 5 km from two charming villages in the Périgord Vert, La Tour Blanche and Mareuil en Périgord, you'll have the opportunity to explore a region rich in castles, picturesque villages, cliffs for climbing, and hiking trails. We have already had several positive experiences with volunteers during the initial phases of the project, and we greatly enjoyed these rewarding exchanges.

Families are welcome, but we do not accept people who want to bring pets and people with any health issues, including pet or food allergies.
