    Dear volunteers.

We are a group of motivated people, Deepa and Thomas, Beemal, Dinesh, Ramesh (4 nepalese and 1 norwegian) who love farming and want to make positive change in our village areas.

The priority of our work is to support the community to generate income in the village through farming. Many people leave the village these days for work, and we would like to provide opportunities; be an example on how to grow profitable permaculture crops, like coffee.

We’re trying out a lot of new projects, new crops, prossesing methods and we are looking for volunteers to help us with the work and to exchange ideas.

The farm is situated in a less touristic, yet beautiful part of Nepal. We are surrounded by fields, forests, birds and wildlife.

We provide a friendly environment to learn about modern permaculture while immersed in traditional nepali village lifestyle.

There are plenty of chances to contribute and share your skills in interesting development projects around the farm.

Located 2,5 km from nearest town and main village. The town provides acess to goods and has regular bus service to kathmandu.

Our specialty crop is coffee. But we also grow hibiscus, different species of Citrus fruits, Guava fruit, Nepali hug plum, Sichuan pepper, black cardamom, almonds, mulberry, strawberry, herbs, and many more. Vegetables for kitchen.

On the land you will also find a good variety of native and non native trees, including Buddha chitta, Rudraksya and Ginkgo tree.

Many of the trees are only 1-3 years old and lot of care is needed.

The community here is mixed with different ethnic groups, the Tamang tribe beeing in majority.

You will be working with Nepalese and living closely with us during your stay.
There’s lots of opportunity to watch the way we work, to try engaging with language and communicating in other ways, and you can see the general lifestyle of village members as you walk around and explore. You may find yourself eating with local families, working with Nepalis in the field, and going for walks around the village with local people.

As far as learning experiences, you will see our organic methods for increasing soil fertility, managing pests and diseases. We have planted our trees to suit local microclimates and you can learn about these Nepali crops, black cardamom, Szechuan pepper, citrus, medicinal herbs, as well as coffee and Western orchard crops.

We are looking for volunteers that are very independent, self-motivated, and interested in learning about a range of skills and topics.

Work from day to day may vary a lot, depending on who is around and the time of year.

We love when volunteers take charge. If you see something that needs to be done or you have your own project.

We also recommend that volunteers be very proactive to have the experience they seek during their time here. If you want to apprentice someone, learn a specific skill, if you want to try something new…..please ask any of us and don’t be shy!

Otherwise, tasks that my be given to volunteers include: weeding, helping with tree care (we will direct), coffee processing, tree planting, help with projects around living quarters, watering, nursery work, mulching.

Days will be active, but to the degree that is comfortable for each volunteer. No experience is required to work with us, just a willingness to contribute. We appreciate the time you can give. Please let us know if there is a specific type of work you are interested in.
