We have stayed with Rick and Sian for one month and had a lovely time. Our main duty was to harvest Sian’s willow before it froze until spring. This was a rewarding task as we could see everything that Sian created with it and she even taught us to make a basket ourselves. On our days off we enjoyed hikes on their property as well as a few trips into town (Antigonish) where there is a lovely community feel, and a fun willow workshop with Sian as there were extra spaces. We visited in winter and the scenery was still beautiful so we can only imagine how gorgeous it is in the summer being so close to the water. Sian is a great cook (Rick also cooks beets very well) and always provided a lovely meal for us in the evening and bought the supplies for whatever we wanted to eat for lunch and breakfast and were very accommodating of a vegetarian diet. Rick and Sian have a wealth of knowledge, very open minds and plenty of stories to share as they have lived interesting lives themselves! We really appreciated our time with Rick, Sian and of course Maude (their dog) and would come back in a heartbeat!

We so enjoyed Candace! She is a delightful person and we had a really good time together. She laughs easily and works diligently. We learned a lot about Hong Kong and she experienced some Maritime hospitality. We highly recommend Canadace as she is so adaptable and willing to do anything asked of her. Her cookies are to die for too.

Sian and Rick are the most energetic fun welcoming couple I even seen. I’m so grateful to spend my last week in Nova Scotia with them, having fun with willow replanting and sorting, planting onion, leek and potato and have a peek with Sian’s willow projects which absolutely make my day. Rick brought me to the port nearby to show me how local buy

I’m forever grateful to have this unique opportunity and they will be missed! p.s. as well as our tea timee, honey milk tea from Sian and latte from Rick;)

Roxanne was an awesome volunteer. She was willing and able and dedicated to the work we asked of her. She transformed our garden and took pride in her work. She was extremely sensitive to our space and schedules and seemed to appreciate our lifestyle. She is friendly and interesting and very energetic, we very much enjoyed her stay.

I had the best time at Rick and Sians, they are laid back and generous people. I was a little road weary when I arrived and was completely ready for what they had to offer. For starters, my own cabin and time to myself, the area is just remote enough that you feel like you are away from it all. It is a beautiful setting by the water and largely in

I set about the garden with zest, they had been gone and the weeds had made a move for dominance in their absence. It wasn't easy work but it was good work, I was thanked for my efforts and able to rest when needed. They are extremely cooperative people and fair in their expectations. I was well fed and entitled to enjoy my free time however I wished, sometimes with them and their friends or just by myself. It was a nice balance and I left there feeling refreshed and energized. I was also shown how to harvest supplies to make baskets, Sian grows her own willow in groves. I have been trying some small projects on my own and having fun with it.
All in all, a great experience and I would highly recommend them. If I could give 6 stars for communication I would.Comentarios
