  Hi there !
  We are a small french-dutch couple: Eric (60, Fr) and Sascha (52, NL). Until recently we shared the house with Simon (18, Fr-NL) and Eric's mother (99, Fr) and lived happily together.
  We have 3 cats, 2 donkeys and 3 icelandic horses, one of them quite old: 37 ! We hope to extending our animal-family with a few chicken and maybe some goats (cheese!) one day, but probably only if we find a couple (or single person) with a similar or compatible project so we can share the work and harvests, on a long term.
  
  Our farm with organic fruit orchard, quite a big vegetable garden and greenhouse is situated in the middle of 6 hectares of pastures and forest, just near the village of La Bastide de Sérou in the Ariège (Pyrenees). Even though we are close to the village, the site is very quiet with a nice view all around the house.
  
  We feel concerned about the environment and make our choices for materials and gardening as much as possible in accordance. Our meals are simple, nourishing and mostly vegetarian and organic.
  
  We have always lots of things to do; sometimes we work hard and often all day long. We really appreciate workawayers being interested in our daily life and having a dynamic and independent attitude as well for the work as for the daily shared housework (helping around the meals (set the table, doing dishes, or cooking), and cleaning of common spaces). We expect you to be independent for your spare time and when we're not around. For a complete integration and a real immersion we ask a minimum stay of 2 weeks.

  Nous sommes une petite famille franco-néerlandaise: Eric (60, Fr) Sascha (52, NL).
  Jusqu'à récemment, Simon (18, Fr-NL) et la mère d'Eric (99, Fr) vivaient avec nous en famille.
  Nous avons 3 chats, 2 ânes et 3 chevaux islandais, dont un papy de 37 ans. Nous espérons agrandir notre famille animale avec des poules et quelques chèvres (fromage!) dans quelque temps, mais probablement seulement si nous trouvons un couple ou personne seule avec un projet agricole similaire ou compatible.
  
  Notre ferme, avec verger et
  un assez grand potager bio avec serre, est situé au milieu de 6 hectares de prairie et de bois, juste à côté (5 min) du village de La Bastide de Sérou en Ariège (Pyrénées). Malgré la proximité avec le village, nous sommes au calme avec une belle vue tout autour de la maison.
  
  Nous nous sentons concernés par l'écologie et faisons les choix de matériaux et jardinage en fonction tant que possible. Nos repas sont simples, nourrissants et le plus souvent végétariens et bio.
  
  Nous avons toujours des choses à faire, et travaillons parfois dur et souvent toute la journée. Nous nous réjouissons de workawayers qui sont intéressés dans notre vie quotidienne et avec une attitude dynamique et autonome quant au travail, ainsi qu'aux tâches de la vie collective (aide autour des repas (mettre la table, faire la vaisselle, ou cuisine), et l'entretien des espaces communs). Pendant les temps libres nous attendons des workers qu'ils soient indépendants pour leurs activités. Pour une bonne intégration et complète immersion, nous demandons un séjour de minimum 2 semaines.

  Here you can:
  - Share our family all day life, as a member,
  - Participate on eventual outings at friends,
  - Have a walk at the Thursday morning local market with many local and organic products,
  - Exchange about renovating technics, gardening (organic/dynamic/permaculture).
  - Receive help for learning french, dutch or english.
  - Enjoy the presence of the cats, donkeys and horses who are always willing to cuddle!
  
  We bake our bread, make yoghurt, kefir (fruit), chutneys, pickles,... you are welcome to assist !
  We like making music (piano, guitar, singing, "contre-bassine").
  
  We live on the foothill of the Pyrenees in the Ariège with a nice view on the mountains. Many possibilities for walking and biking tours (we can lend you a bike). The 'Voie Verte' (almost flat biking path) between Saint Girons and Foix passes through our village.
  20 Minutes' drive from Le Mas d'Azil with it's fabulous cave;
  20 minutes' drive from Foix with its fortress castle;
  30 minutes' drive from Saint Girons with its very nice and special Saturday morning market.
  Hitch-hiking is very common and easy in this area.
  
  Ici vous pourrez:
  - Faire partie de notre quotidien en faisant partie de la famille,
  - Participer à d'éventuelles sorties (événements ou chez des amis)
  - Faire une virée au marché du village, avec des produits locaux et bio (le jeudi matin),
  - Échanger avec nous à propos des techniques de rénovation, jardinage (bio/dynamique/permaculture),
  - Recevoir de l'aide pour apprendre le français, le néerlandais ou l'anglais,
  - Profiter de la présence de nos chats, ânes et chevaux, toujours prêts à accueillir des câlins.
  Nous faisons le pain, le yaourt, du kéfir, des chutneys, pickles et autres conserves... bienvenu si tu veux apprendre!
  Nous aimons faire de la musique (piano, guitare, chant, contre-bassine).
  
  Nous habitons dans le piémont des Pyrénées Ariégeoises avec vue sur la montagne. Il y a des balades à pied ou en vélo (nous pouvons prêter un vélo) à faire. La 'voie verte' entre Foix et Saint Girons traverse notre village.
  Nous nous trouvons (en voiture) à
  - 20 minutes du Mas d'Azil avec sa magnifique grotte (et souffleur de verre, 'Affabuloscope',..);
  - 20 minutes de Foix avec son château fort;
  - 30 minutes de Saint Girons son marché spécial et fort en ambiance (Samedi matin)
  Faire de auto-stop est très commun et facile par ici.

  Ayuda

  For this summer we are looking for a responsible person with green fingers and experience in gardening and able to work autonomously if ever we're not around (ofcourse in consultation with us if needed), to help us with:
  - maintenance of the vegetable garden (watering, harvesting, planting, weeding,...)
  - maintenance of the land (bushmowing, check on fences).
  - taking care of the horses and donkeys, muck out
  
  In option there is also:
  - split wood for the stove
  
  Depending on the period it could also be a house sitting.
  
  The idea for us is to be able to have a little break from our "always-too-much-to-do" life. This doesn't mean that we'll do nothing when you're here, but that we can slow down 😅 and feel together "on vacation" in this beautiful place 🥰
  
  Please be aware that summer can be very hot and therefore the best working time is in the early morning.
  
  We prefer french-speaking or willing to learn french workawayers (but is not a no-go).

  Pour cet été, nous cherchons une personne ayant la main verte et de l’expérience dans le jardinage, respknsable et capable de travailler de manière autonome quand nous ne sommes pas là (bien sûr en consultation avec nous si nécessaire)
  pour aider avec :
  - l'entretien d'un grand potager (arrosage, récolte, plantation, désherbage, ...)
  - l'entretien du terrain (débroussaillage, entretien clôtures)
  - prendre soin des chevaux et des ânes, ramasser le crottin
  
  En option:
  - fendre du bois de chauffage
  
  Selon la période, ça peut être un gardiennage de maison.
  
  L’idée pour nous est de pouvoir faire une petite pause dans notre vie « toujours trop à faire ». Cela ne veut pas dire que nous ne ferons rien quand tu seras là, mais qu’on pourra ralentir 😅 et se sentir ensemble « en vacances » dans ce bel endroit. 🥰
  
  Veuillez noter que l’été peut être très chaud et que le meilleur moment pour travailler est tôt le matin.
  
  Nous préférons une personne parlant le français ou motivée pour l'apprendre.
