  Hello everybody. My name is Karin, I am from Northern Germany, 68 years old and have been living on El Hierro with my local husband for 35 years. Our large finca is located in an idyllic valley in the north of the island between Valverde and Mocanal, very quiet, but quite convenient in terms of transport strategy, as you can quickly get to all directions. The “family” also includes 1 German and 1 Spanish man, 2 horses, a cat and 5 chickens. We have a small greenhouse for growing vegetables, some fruit trees and palm trees. We also plant potatoes, corn, beans and pumpkins.
  
  I am grateful for the help on the finca, with cleaning and cooking and in looking after our nice, cuddly 5 1/2 dogs, who found their way to us through animal welfare. They like to go for walks, enjoy being petted and are quite well behaved. We eat well and healthily, I go swimming almost every day and have been renting out accommodation to tourists for over 20 years.
  
  We look forward to uncomplicated, hands-on, nature-loving and animal-loving helpers.

  Mein Name ist Karin, ich bin aus Norddeutschland , 68 Jahre alt und lebe seit 35 Jahren mit meinem einheimischen Mann auf El Hierro. Unsere grosse Finca liegt in einem idyllischen Tal im Norden der Insel zwischen Valverde und Mocanal sehr ruhig, aber verkehrsstrategisch recht günstig, da man schnell in alle Richtungen kommt.
  Zur "Familie" gehören ausserdem 1 deutscher und 1 spanischer Mann, 2 Pferde, eine Katze und 5 Hühner. Wir haben ein kleines Gewächshaus für den Gemüseanbau, einige Obstbaüme und Palmen. Ausserdem pflanzen wir Kartoffeln, Mais, Bohnen und Kürbisse an.
  
  Ich bin dankbar über Hilfe auf der Finca, beim Putzen und Kochen und bei der Betreuung unserer netten, schmusigen 5 1/2 Hunde, die über den Tierschutz ihren Weg zu uns gefunden haben. Sie gehen gern spazieren, finden es toll gestreichelt zu werden und sind recht gut erzogen.
  Wir essen gut und gesund, ich gehe fast täglich schwimmen und vermiete seit über 20 Jahren Unterkünfte an Touristen .
  
  Wir freuen uns über unkomplizierte, zupackende, naturverbundene und tierliebende Helfer.

  El Hierro is the smallest Canary Island with 8,000 inhabitants and only around 30% of the area is developed. On the 278 km2 there is a lot of untouched and varied nature with great hiking trails and a wide variety of climate zones. Lava deserts, mountains, plateaus, pine trees and cloud forest alternate and the natural swimming pools and 2 beaches invite you to take a dip. The island is divided into the municipalities of Valverde, El Pinar and Frontera, each with its own particular charms. No island in the Canary Islands is as pristine and untouristy as El Hierro. A treat for nature lovers and people who like to be quiet.
  
  El Hierro ist die kleinste Kanareninsel mit 8000 Einwohnern und nur ca. 30 % der Fläche sind bebaut. Auf den 278 km2 gibt es viel unberührte und abwechslungsreiche Natur mit tollen Wanderwegen und unterschiedlichsten Klimazonen. Lavawüsten, Berge, Hochebenen, Pinien und Nebelwald wechseln einander ab und die Naturschwimmbecken und 2 Strände laden zum Bad ein.
  Die Insel ist in die Gemeinden Valverde, El Pinar und Frontera unterteilt, jede hat ihre besonderen Reize. Keine Insel der Kanaren ist so ursprünglich und untouristisch wie El Hierro. Ein Leckerbissen für Naturliebhaber und Menschen die es gern ruhig haben.

  Next to the horse stable there is a small apartment with a living room/bedroom and kitchen/bathroom, ditto WiFi. We usually eat lunch together, sometimes in the evening, and the fridge is well stocked. Please have breakfast or snacks in the apartment and if you prefer to cook your own soup there, you can of course do that too. Car and an e-bike or mountain bike can be used. The best would be a single person or, in exceptional cases, two people who can live together in a small space.
  
  Neben dem Pferdestall steht ein kleines Apartment mit Wohn/schlafraum und Küche/Bad zur Verfügung, dito WLAN.
  Wir essen meist mittags, manchmal abends gemeinsam und der Kühlschrank ist gut gefüllt. Frühstück oder Zwischenmahlzeiten bitte im Apartment und wer dort lieber sein eigenes Süppchen kochen möchte, kann das selbstverstaendlich auch.
  Auto und ein E-bike oder Mountainbike können genutzt werden. Am Besten wäre eine Einzelperson oder im Ausnahmefall 2 Personen, die auf engem Raum zusammen leben können.

  Buses run sporadically on the island, driving license and driving experience are an advantage to be able to see everything properly and also to go on trips with the dogs. Hiking, running, cycling, swimming, snorkeling, diving, free diving and paragliding are among the most popular leisure activities. The observatory (the night sky is incredibly clear due to the low light pollution) and the museums are worth visiting if you want to immerse yourself in the island's history and its present. You can make contacts on Sundays at the weekly market in Frontera (Mercadillo), it is a popular meeting place for German residents, tourists and locals.
  
  Busse fahren sporadisch auf der Insel, Führerschein und Fahrpraxis sind von Vorteil um sich alles richtig anschauen zu können und auch, um Ausflüge mit den Hunden zu unternehmen.
  Wandern, Laufen, Radfahren, Schwimmen, Schnorcheln, Tauchen, Free Diving und Gleitschirmfliegen gehören zu den beliebtesten Freizeitaktivitäten.
  Die Sternwarte (der Nachthimmel ist wegen der geringen Lichtverschmutzung unglaublich klar) und die Museen zu besuchen lohnt sich, wenn man in die Inselgeschichte und ihre Gegenwart eintauchen möchte.
  Kontakte kann man sonntags auf dem Wochemarkt in Frontera (Mercadillo) knüpfen, er ist ein beliebter Treffpunkt für die deutschen Residenten, Touristen und Einheimischen.
