Update 2024 Spring:
The darkness of the winter is gone and the days are suddenly never ending. The garden is sprouting bringing different tasks to solve. At the same time we have tasks from the ongoing slow-paced house renovation as well. Hit us up if you have some experience with such tasks and would like to stay on the Danish countryside for a bit.
Dear workawayers,
We live in the western countryside of Sjaelland, around 70 km from Copenhagen, in a small village called Skamstrup. There are two houses, a smaller renovated where Romed and Ankie lives, and a bigger, older but just as much cosy house where many people have been through but currently lived by me (Peter, 28) and Milos. Romed and Ankie are both retired but still very much active life explorers with a lot of knowledge about carpentry and gardens and life in general. Milos is working as an electrician and enjoys co-creation with happy people in his free time. I recently quit my job to explore a somehow more creative spirit and often away for travelling (not for the next few months though :)). The property also has a big barn, which hosts many tools and materials for creation.
At the moment we have many empty rooms since many of the original creators of this place have (sadly and happily at the same time) continued on their journey of different places be it a new country or returning to the bustling life of a city. This also leads us to lack of hands to help finishing some DIY renovation projects and to generally take care of everything in the garden.
The garden of the property is not the biggest but it extends into the meadow which is a more common space we share with our neighbors, and ends at the foot of the Skamstrup mill, which is frequently visited by the whole village community and time to time in the summer hosts communal milling events. The garden is a bit like a jungle with many herbs, berries, vegetables and trees, most of them still young as the project started only two winters ago. We aim at using permaculture principles.
Life is simple here, close to nature in a tranquil environment. We enjoy going for mushroom hunts in the forests closeby, harvesting and preserving apples, cooking the vegetables of our garden into delicious meals to share, sharing interesting conversations and time to time receiving visitors or visiting other projects in the area. One of them is Hawila Project, a non-profit organization revolving around a 85 years old 2 mast wooden sailing boat with a big network of people from all around within the circles of boatbuilding, fair trade cargo, circus(,) art, etc. This project was at point interlinked a lot with Skamstrupvej 37 and still is very close to us - visitors from Hawila are often expected!Tipos de ayuda y oportunidades de aprendizaje

Skamstrup is a funky one among the many villages of Denmark. It is quite small but has an active community life with an occasional cafe evening at the assembly house, community milling day, village clean-up, harvest festival and other activities which are great for cultural exchange with Danish people. The village also has some interesting history that reflects the general evolution of Danish countryside on Sjaelland.
Besides the Danish countryside, you have the chance to exchange life experiences with Romed from Austria and Ankie from Holland who can tell you many nice stories as well as learn about plants, mushrooms, carpentry and many other. And occasional visitors are also from all over Europe, bringing their own cultural heritage into our multicultural mix.Ayuda
We need help mostly with the garden, maintenance and building projects (according to resources). There are many things to harvest and preserve in the garden, the village and the forests around. We also have things to repair or solve around the house to maintain it, and unfinished construction projects to connect the two houses. We are also open for other ideas to implement, if there is something you can share.
In general there are some daily help and possibilities for bigger projects. We would appreciate a lot if you have some knowledge in gardening, carpentry and masonry, but also can help you get into the workflow.Idiomas

We offer accomodation in private rooms - of course if you want you can also camp in the garden for which we can offer tents, blankets and mattresses. :)
We cook from partly our garden, partly from dumpsterdived goods and of course we buy whatever else we need. Breakfast and lunch is usually solved independently but most often we share dinner together, including the cooking and cleaning up. We provide the ingredients for your meals.Algo más...
In the time off you can enjoy the tranquil environment to do your own activities and projects. You can use the workshop and most materials to realize own ideas, allowing space for different art forms. You can also socialize with us and our great neighbors, who themselves are always active with different projects and ideas.
Copenhagen is also not far away, so you can go and enjoy the vibrant capital of Denmark, or if you want something smaller city environment, go to Holbaek or Jyderup. The train station is around 5 km away which you can walk, hitchhike, lend a bike from us or some cases get a lift by car. Copenhagen is 1 hour and 15 minutes while Holbaek is 20 minutes away.
Furthermore there is a lot of nature to explore around as well as different projects and communities.Un poco más de información
